🌅 AATHAVAN MEDITATION 🌅

"…saying to them, 'It is written, "AND MY HOUSE
SHALL BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER," but you have made it a ROBBERS' DEN.'" (Luke 19:46 - NASB)
Today's meditation verse quotes the words of Isaiah 56:7,
highlighted by Jesus Christ. God has created everything in this world for a
purpose. Nothing in His plan is unnecessary. However, when we fail to
understand His purpose and act contrary to what He intended, we make mistakes,
and at times, we commit sin.
The temple is a place to worship God. We must use it for
worshiping Him and offering prayers—that is, strictly for holy purposes. Acting
contrary to this means turning it into a robbers' den. Specifically, when
individuals or the church uses the temple with the intent of accumulating
money, it turns into a robbers' den.
Furthermore, based on New Testament truth, each of us is a
temple of God. Apostle Paul asks, "Do you not know that you are a
temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?" (1
Corinthians 3:16 - NASB). It is essential that we adorn this physical temple
with Christ. Conversely, when we engage in wrong pursuits to hoard money,
material wealth, power, and fame, or when we consume intoxicants and other
harmful substances that defile the body, we ruin this temple and make it a
robbers' den.
We read very clearly in the Bible: "Or do you not
know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have
from God, and that you are not your own?" (1 1 Corinthians 6:19 -
NASB). That is, we do not belong to ourselves; we belong to Christ. We must
give space in our hearts for the Lord Christ alone to abide. When we push
Christ aside and give priority to any other object or person, we fill ourselves
with stolen goods like robbers.
Moreover, by doing so, we destroy God's temple. "If
anyone destroys the temple of God, God will destroy that person; for the temple
of God is holy, and that is what you are." (1 Corinthians 3:17 -
NASB).
Our body, as a temple, is a house of prayer for Christ. Let
us strive to keep it holy without turning it into a robbers' den. Paul says, "Likewise,
I want women to adorn themselves with proper clothing, modestly and discreetly,
not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly garments, but rather by
means of good works, as is proper for women making a claim to godliness."
(1 Timothy 2:9-10 - NASB). This advice is not only for women; it applies to
everyone.
Dearly beloved, let us examine how we maintain the temple of
our body. We use various clothes and cosmetics to adorn and cleanse our outer
body, but we forget to adorn the inner person. Today’s meditation verse urges
us to make efforts toward that inner adornment. Our body is a house of prayer—a
temple; let us not turn it into a robbers' den.
