Meditation verse - மாற்கு 12 : 30 / Mark 12:30

AATHAVAN MEDITATION

Meditation No. 2083 | Date: 22 October 2026

“And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”  Mark 12:30 (NASB)

Our love for God should resemble the deep, personal love experienced between two people who truly love one another. When a man or woman genuinely loves someone, they think of that person wholeheartedly, strive to meet their needs, and seek to live in a way that is worthy of the other's love. Likewise, we must sincerely seek to please God. Indeed, the biblical book of Song of Solomon is written around this theme of deep love.

This is precisely what our Lord Jesus Christ declares when He says, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.”

How can a person develop such complete love for God?

Today, many Christians go to church and pray with various requests. Some receive answers to their prayers. Many are healed of their illnesses. Others see their worldly problems resolved—for example, financial debts, unemployment, or the inability to have children. Having received answers to their needs, many come to love God. We often hear such testimonies in prayer meetings and Christian conventions.

But, beloved, those who testify to such blessings as evidence that they love Christ do not necessarily grow into deeper spiritual experiences. They may continue to speak about something that happened to them long ago, yet their lifestyle remains unchanged. In contrast, those who are delivered from a life of sin and come to know Christ grow into people who experience deeper spiritual realities. Why? Because they are the ones who can love Christ, as our Lord Jesus teaches, with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength.

This is not merely a theoretical idea; it is something we can observe directly in this world. The testimonies and lives of those who have experienced genuine transformation are different.

Furthermore, when we read the Bible, we discover that not everyone who received blessings from Christ also received forgiveness of sins. Of the ten lepers who were healed, only one returned to glorify God. When Jesus miraculously multiplied the loaves, the people ate and were satisfied, but that physical satisfaction did not mean they had received forgiveness of sins. Many among the crowds eventually stood against Christ, crying out, “Crucify Him!”

A Pharisee invited Jesus to his house for a meal, showing Him a measure of respect. Yet a sinful woman who came there loved Jesus far more than the Pharisee did. Yes, the Lord Jesus said:

“Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, have been forgiven, for she loved much; but the one who is forgiven little, loves little.” (Luke 7:47, NASB)

Those who recognize the depth of their sin and receive God's abundant forgiveness are able to develop a profound love for Christ. Others may remain Christians in outward religious practice without experiencing a genuine transformation of heart.

Therefore, if we truly desire to love Christ and experience deeper spiritual growth, our sins must be forgiven. Only then can we love Him with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind, and all our strength, as today's meditation verse teaches us.

Beloved, let us confess our sins to Christ and seek His forgiveness. Then we can experience a genuine Christian life, marked by a transformed heart, sincere love for the Lord, and deeper spiritual fellowship with Him.
