Meditation – 2024
“AATHAVAN” – August 24,
Monday, 2026
“Who is wise, and he shall
understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the
LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall
fall therein.” — Hosea 14:9 (KJV)
The ways that God has
ordained for His children are higher and better, yet they are narrow and
demanding. It is along this narrow way that our spiritual journey must be
lived. Our Lord Jesus Christ Himself said:
“Enter ye in at the strait
gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction,
and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow
is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” — Matthew
7:13–14 (KJV)
This is precisely what
today’s meditation verse asks: “Who is wise, and he shall understand these
things? prudent, and he shall know them?”
For those who live a
righteous life, the righteous ways of the Lord will not appear difficult or
burdensome. But it is not so with the wicked. The ways of righteousness become
a stumbling block to them. Even when the right path is taught to them, they fail
to understand or accept it. That is why today’s meditation verse refers to them
as transgressors. Without knowing or following the ways of righteousness, they
do not hesitate to commit even the most grievous acts of wickedness.
It is to restrain such
wicked and transgressive people that various laws have been enacted. Yet,
however much mercy and kindness are shown to them, they often refuse to change
their ways. Indeed, the Scripture says:
“Let favour be shewed to the
wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he
deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.” — Isaiah 26:10
(KJV)
But, as today’s meditation
verse declares, “the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in
them.” We, who have been redeemed by the precious blood of Christ and made
righteous through Him, are called to walk in His ways. The Holy Spirit leads us
along this path. Therefore, the Word of God instructs us:
“Thou shalt keep therefore
the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.” — Deuteronomy
8:6 (KJV)
Yes, dear beloved, it is
essential that we live as people who are wise enough to understand these things
and prudent enough to discern them. The Word of the Lord must take root in us
and grow within our hearts. It is equally essential that the Holy Spirit
enlighten our understanding and lead us in the right way.
Only then can we grow in the
wisdom of God and turn away from sinful and transgressive ways. Let us
surrender ourselves completely to the guidance of the Holy Spirit and pray that
He may lead us continually in the ways of the Lord.
