Fragrance of Christ

"Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place." ( 2 Corinthians 2 : 14 )

Once I read a book of witness by a woman named Bilquis who lived at the middle of the last century in Pakistan. She belongs to Islamic faith. Her husband held a cabinet position in the Government of Pakistan. This woman knew nothing about Jesus or Christianity. But she came to know Jesus through a servant girl who worked in his house. God guided this woman through dreams.

Before she could read the Bible properly, she had a dream one day. In the dream, a person dressed in white cloth came to her house to sell scent. Bilguis asked him about the aromatic ointments and the man took a particular bottle and gave it to Bilguis and asked her to use it regularly. When she opened the bottle, a wonderful aroma spread and filled her whole house. The man said,  "keep this" and left.

Bilguis did not understand the meaning of this dream. Yes, she don't understand anything about it. That evening she studied the scriptures. She had to study the Bible secretly because it was an Islamic country and her husband an Islamic. While reading like that, her eyes sopped at the verse we are  meditating today. "thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place." When she read the words, she understood the meaning of the dream. "I jumped with joy without control" she wrote.

"For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish" ( 2 Corinthians 2 : 15 )

Beloved, Christ desires to make us triumphant in Christ always, and to spread through us everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him. That is, He wants the fragrance of Christ spread throughout the world through a life of witness.

In them that are saved, and in them that perish we are Christ's praise to God. He wants the depraved to know Him. Because he wants everyone to repent so that no one will be perished. Corrupted people are also likely to be converted by witnessing the lives of others in Christ.

Let us spread the fragrance of Christ in the world by our witness life.
