"ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1975
"கர்த்தராகிய நான் உங்கள் தேவன் என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, நான் நாற்பது வருஷம் உங்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் நடத்தினேன்; உங்கள் மேலிருந்த வஸ்திரம் பழையதாய்ப் போகவும் இல்லை, உங்கள் காலிலிருந்த பாதரட்சைகள் பழையதாய்ப் போகவும் இல்லை. நீங்கள் அப்பம் சாப்பிடவும் இல்லை, திராட்சைரசமும், மதுவும் குடிக்கவும் இல்லை." ( உபாகமம் 29 : 5, 6 )
இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் எகிப்திலிருந்து புறப்பட்டுக் கானானை நோக்கிப் பயணம் செய்த தூரம் மிகக் குறைவானதே. எகிப்திலிருந்து தெற்கு கானான் பகுதிக்குச் செல்லும் மிக நேரடியான கடற்கரைப் பாதை சுமார் 90 முதல் 140 கி.மீ தூரம் கொண்டது. இப்பாதையில் நடந்து பயணம் செய்தால் சில வாரங்களில் கானானைச் சென்றடையலாம். ஆனால் தேவன் எகிப்திலிருந்து வெளியேறிய இஸ்ரயேல் மக்களை வழிநடத்தியப் பாதை இதைவிட மிக நீண்டதாக இருந்தது. சினாய் தீபகற்பம் வழியாகச் சென்ற மறைமுகப் பாதையில் அவர்கள் பயணம் செய்த தூரம் சுமார் 987 கி.மீ ஆகும். இப்படிப் பயணம் செய்தாலும் இந்தப் பயணத்துக்கு 40 ஆண்டுகள் தேவையில்லை. ஆனால் தேவன் அதனைத்தான் அனுமதித்தார்.
இதனை நாம், "பார்வோன் ஜனங்களைப் போகவிட்டபின்: ஜனங்கள் யுத்தத்தைக் கண்டால் மனமடிந்து, எகிப்துக்குத் திரும்புவார்கள் என்று சொல்லி; பெலிஸ்தரின் தேசவழியாய்ப் போவது சமீபமானாலும், தேவன் அவர்களை அந்த வழியாய் நடத்தாமல், சிவந்த சமுத்திரத்தின் வனாந்தர வழியாய் ஜனங்களைச் சுற்றிப் போகப்பண்ணினார். இஸ்ரவேல் புத்திரர் எகிப்து தேசத்திலிருந்து அணியணியாய்ப் புறப்பட்டுப்போனார்கள்." ( யாத்திராகமம் 13 : 17, 18 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம்.
காரணம், தேவனே மனப்பூர்வமாக இப்படிச் செய்தார். இது ஏனென்றால், "கர்த்தராகிய நான் உங்கள் தேவன் என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, நான் நாற்பது வருஷம் உங்களை வனாந்தரத்தில் நடத்தினேன்" என்று இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில் வாசிக்கின்றோம்.
அதாவது, இக்கட்டுகளுக்குள்தான் தேவனை அறியமுடியும், அவரது அதிசயங்களை அனுபவிக்கமுடியும். இதனால் பல்வேறு இன்னல்கள், போர்கள், உணவு பற்றாக்குறை போன்ற நெருக்கடிகளை அந்த மக்களுக்குத் தேவன் கொடுத்தார். இதனையே, "நீங்கள் அப்பம் சாப்பிடவும் இல்லை, திராட்சைரசமும், மதுவும் குடிக்கவும் இல்லை." என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஆம் எகிப்தில் சாப்பிட்டதுபோல வனாந்தரத்தில் அவர்களுக்கு அப்பம் கிடைக்கவில்லை, திராட்சைரசமும் மதுவும் கிடைக்கவில்லை. ஆனால், இத்தகைய துன்பங்களிலிருந்து தேவன் அவர்களைக் காப்பாற்றவும் செய்தார். உலக அப்பத்துக்குப்பதில் மன்னாவை அவர்கள் உண்ணும்படிக் கொடுத்தார். அவர்களது உடைகள், காலிலிருந்த செருப்புகள் பழையதாய்ப் போகவும் இல்லை.
ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, எகிப்து எனும் பாவ வாழ்க்கையிலிருந்து தேவனை நோக்கி நாம் நடக்கும்போது இந்த உலகத்தில் பல்வேறு துன்பங்கள் நம்மை நெருக்கலாம். முன்பு நாம் அனுபவித்திருந்த பல நன்மைகள் கிடைக்காமல் போயிருக்கலாம். அதற்காக நாம் பழைய வாழ்க்கைக்குத் திரும்பிவிடக்கூடாது. இன்றைய தியான வசனம் கூறுவதுபோல, கர்த்தராகிய நான் உங்கள் தேவன் என்று நீங்கள் அறிந்துகொள்ளும்படிக்கு, உங்களை இப்படிப்பட்ட வனாந்தர பாதையில் நடத்துகின்றேன் என்கின்றார் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர்.
ஆவிக்குரிய மக்களாகிய நம்மைத் தேவன் நடத்தும் வழி உலகமக்கள் நடப்பதுபோன்ற கவலைகள், துன்பங்களற்ற குறுகிய வழியல்ல. மாறாக அது இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் நடந்ததுபோன்ற வனாந்தர வழி. இந்த வழி கடினமான வழியாக இருந்தாலும், தேவன் நமது மேலிருக்கும் ஆடைகள் பழையதாய்ப் போகாமலும், நமது காலிலிருக்கும் செருப்புகள் பழையதாய்ப் போகாமலும் அற்புதமாக நம்மை நடத்தி இந்த வனாந்தர வழியினைக் கடக்கும்படிச் செய்வார். அதாவது அற்புதமாக இந்தத் துன்பங்களை மேற்கொள்ளும் பெலன் தருவார். மட்டுமல்ல, இந்த வழியில் நடக்கும்போதுதான் கர்த்தராகிய தேவனை நாம் நமது வாழ்வில் அறிந்துகொள்ளமுடியும்.

"AATHAVAN"
Meditation – 1975

"I have led you forty
years in the wilderness; your clothes have not worn out on you, and your sandal
has not worn out on your foot. You have not eaten bread, nor have you drunk
wine or strong drink, in order that you might know that I am the Lord your
God." — Deuteronomy 29:5-6 (NASB)
The distance the people of
Israel travelled from Egypt toward Canaan was actually quite short. The most
direct coastal route from Egypt to the southern region of Canaan is only about
90 to 140 km. Traveling by foot on this path, one could reach Canaan in just a
few weeks. However, the path God used to lead the people of Israel out of Egypt
was much longer. The indirect route they took through the Sinai Peninsula
spanned about 987 km. Even traveling this way, the journey did not require 40
years. Yet, that is exactly what God allowed.
We read about this in
Scripture:
"Now when Pharaoh had
let the people go, God did not lead them by the way of the land of the
Philistines, even though it was near; for God said, 'The people might change
their minds when they see war, and return to Egypt.' Hence God turned the
people aside by the way of the wilderness to the Red Sea; and the sons of
Israel went up in martial array from the land of Egypt." — Exodus
13:17-18 (NASB)
The reason for this is that
God intentionally did it Himself. As we read in today’s meditation verse, this
was: "...in order that you might know that I am the Lord your
God."
In other words, it is
precisely within hardships that we can truly know God and experience His
miracles. Because of this, God allowed the people to face various afflictions,
wars, and crises like food shortages. This is why it is said, "You have
not eaten bread, nor have you drunk wine or strong drink." Yes, just
as they had eaten in Egypt, they did not get ordinary bread in the wilderness,
nor did they have wine or strong drink. Yet, God also rescued them from these
distresses. Instead of worldly bread, He gave them manna to eat. Their clothes
and the sandals on their feet did not wear out.
Yes, beloved, when we walk
away from the sinful life of "Egypt" toward God, various afflictions
in this world may press against us. Many comforts and provisions we previously
enjoyed might no longer be available. But we must not return to our old life
because of that. As today’s meditation verse declares, the Lord God says: I
am leading you through such a wilderness path so that you may know that I am
the Lord your God.
The path through which God
leads us, His spiritual people, is not a short, worry-free, and trouble-free
path like the one worldly people walk. Rather, it is a wilderness path like the
one the people of Israel walked. Even though this path is difficult, God will
miraculously lead us so that the clothes on our bodies do not wear out, and the
sandals on our feet do not wear out, enabling us to cross this wilderness. That
is to say, He will miraculously grant us the strength to overcome these
afflictions. Moreover, it is only while walking this very path that we can
truly come to know the Lord God in our lives.
