"ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1983
"கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினாலே ஜீவனுடைய ஆவியின் பிரமாணம் என்னைப் பாவம் மரணம் என்பவைகளின் பிரமாணத்தினின்று விடுதலையாக்கிற்றே." ( ரோமர் 8 : 2 )
இந்த உலகத்தில் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களை தேவன் தனக்குரியவர்களாகத் தெரிந்துகொண்டார். எனவே, அவர்கள் தனக்கு ஏற்றவர்களாக விளங்குமாறுச் செய்ய அவர்களுக்குப் பல்வேறு கட்டளைகளைக்கொடுத்தார். இத்தகைய நீதியுள்ள கட்டளைகளை அவர் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களைத் தவிர வேறு யாருக்கும் கொடுக்கவில்லை. இதனை நாம், "இந்நாளில் நான் உங்களுக்கு விதிக்கிற இந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணம் முழுமைக்கும் ஒத்த இவ்வளவு நீதியுள்ள கட்டளைகளையும் நியாயங்களையும் பெற்றிருக்கிற வேறே பெரிய ஜாதியும் எது?" ( உபாகமம் 4 : 8 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம்.
வேதாகம ஆராய்ச்சியாளர்கள் வேதத்தில் யாத்திராகமம் முதல் உபாகமம் வரை சுமார் 613 கட்டளைகளைக் கணக்கிட்டுள்ளனர். ஆம், இத்தனைக் கட்டளைகளும் தனது மக்கள் பரிசுத்தமுள்ளவர்களாக மாறவேண்டும் என்பதற்காகவே.
ஆனால் தேவன் விரும்பியதுபோல இந்தக் கட்டளைகள் மக்களைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்தவில்லை. மக்கள் கட்டளைகளை மீறிக்கொண்டுதான் இருந்தார்கள். காரணம், மனித பலத்தால் இந்தக்கட்டளைகளை கடைபிடிக்க முடியாது என்பதுதான். எனவேதான் தேவன் தனது சொந்தக் குமாரனை பாவமாம்சத்தின் சாயலாகவும், பாவத்தைப் போக்கும் பலியாகவும் அனுப்பி உலகிற்கு மீட்பளித்தார். இதனையே அப்போஸ்தலரான பவுல், "அதெப்படியெனில், மாம்சத்தினாலே பலவீனமாயிருந்த நியாயப்பிரமாணம் செய்யக்கூடாததை தேவனே செய்யும்படிக்கு, தம்முடைய குமாரனைப் பாவமாம்சத்தின் சாயலாகவும், பாவத்தைப் போக்கும் பலியாகவும் அனுப்பி, மாம்சத்திலே பாவத்தை ஆக்கினைக்குள்ளாகத் தீர்த்தார்." ( ரோமர் 8 : 3 ) என்று கூறுகின்றார்.
ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, நமது சுய பலமல்ல, கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினாலே உண்டான ஜீவனுடைய ஆவியின் பிரமாணம் நமக்கு பாவம் அதனைத் தொடர்ந்த ஆவியின் மரணம் இவைகளிலிருந்து விடுதலை தருகின்றது. நமது சுய பலத்தால் பாவத்திலிருந்து விடுதலை பெறமுடியாது. ஆனால், நமது உடலை நாம் கிறிஸ்துவோடு சிலுவையில் அறையும்படி ஒப்புக்கொடுக்கும்போது மட்டுமே நாம் பாவத்திலிருந்து முழு விடுதலை பெறமுடியும்.
"நாம் இனிப் பாவத்துக்கு ஊழியஞ்செய்யாதபடிக்கு, பாவசரீரம் ஒழிந்துபோகும்பொருட்டாக, நம்முடைய பழைய மனுஷன் அவரோடேகூடச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்பட்டதென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம். மரித்தவன் பாவத்துக்கு நீங்கி விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டிருக்கிறானே. ஆகையால் கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூட நாம் மரித்தோமானால், அவருடனே கூடப்பிழைத்தும் இருப்போம் என்று நம்புகிறோம்." ( ரோமர் 6 : 6 - 8 )
கிறிஸ்துவோடு சிலுவையில் அறையப்படுதல் என்பது அவரைப்போல நாமும் ஆணிகளால் சிலுவை மரத்தில் அறையப்படவேண்டுமென்று பொருளல்ல, அவருக்கு நம்மை முற்றிலும் ஒப்புக்கொடுத்தலை அது குறிக்கின்றது. அதாவது, முதலில் நமது பாவங்களை அவரிடம் அறிக்கையிட்டு மன்னிப்பை வேண்டுதல்; அவரையே வாழ்வில் நமக்கு முதன்மையானவராக ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளுதல். இப்படிச் செய்வோமானால் நம்முடைய பழைய மனுஷன் அவரோடேகூடச் சிலுவையில் அறையப்படுவான். நாம் அவரது பலத்தால் பாவத்தை மேற்கொள்ளும் தகுதியுள்ளவர்கள் ஆவோம். இதனையே இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில் அப்போஸ்தலராகிய பவுல், "கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவினாலே ஜீவனுடைய ஆவியின் பிரமாணம் என்னைப் பாவம் மரணம் என்பவைகளின் பிரமாணத்தினின்று விடுதலையாக்கிற்றே" என்று மகிழ்வுடன் கூறுகின்றார். நாமும் இந்த அனுபவத்தைப் பெறும்படி நம்மை அவருக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுப்போம்; கட்டளைகளின் பிரமாணங்களிலிருந்து விடுதலை பெறுவோம்.

"For the law of
the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of
death." — Romans 8:2
In this world, God chose the
people of Israel to be His own. Therefore, He gave them various commandments so
that they might live in a manner pleasing to Him. He did not give such
righteous statutes to any nation other than Israel. We read of this in Scripture:
"Or what great nation
is there that has statutes and judgments as righteous as this whole Law which I
am setting before you today?" — Deuteronomy 4:8
Bible scholars have counted
approximately 613 commandments from Exodus through Deuteronomy. Indeed, all
these commandments were given so that His people might become holy.
However, these commandments
could not sanctify the people as God desired. The people kept breaking the
commandments. The reason for this is that human strength alone cannot keep
them. Therefore, God provided salvation to the world by sending His own Son in
the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin. The Apostle Paul
expresses this truth:
"For what the Law could
not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the
likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the
flesh." — Romans 8:3
Yes, beloved ones, it is not
our self-strength, but the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that
grants us freedom from sin and the spiritual death that follows it. We cannot
gain freedom from sin through our own human effort. Full freedom from sin comes
only when we surrender our bodies to be crucified with Christ.
"Knowing this, that our
old self was crucified with Him, in order that our body of sin might be done
away with, so that we would no longer be slaves to sin; for he who has died is
freed from sin. Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also
live with Him." — Romans 6:6–8
To be crucified with Christ
does not mean that we, like Him, must literally be nailed to a wooden cross
with iron nails; rather, it signifies complete surrender to Him. That is, first
confessing our sins to Him and seeking forgiveness, and then acknowledging Him
as the primary Lord of our lives. If we do this, our old self is crucified with
Him, and through His strength, we are made capable of overcoming sin.
This is why the Apostle Paul
joyfully declares in today’s meditation verse: "For the law of the
Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of
death." Let us surrender ourselves to Him so that we too may enter
into this experience and receive freedom from the legalism of commandments.
