🦋 Meditation verse - 2 இராஜாக்கள் 18 : 6, 7 / 2 Kings 18:6-7

"ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1991 

ஜூலை 21 செவ்வாய் 2026   

"அவன் (எசேக்கியா) கர்த்தரை விட்டுப் பின்வாங்காமல் அவரைச் சார்ந்திருந்து, கர்த்தர் மோசேக்குக் கற்பித்த அவருடைய கற்பனைகளைக் கைக்கொண்டு நடந்தான். ஆகையால் கர்த்தர் அவனோடிருந்தார்; அவன் போகிற இடம் எங்கும் அவனுக்கு அனுகூலமாயிற்று; அவன் அசீரியா ராஜாவைச் சேவிக்காமல், அவன் அதிகாரத்தைத் தள்ளிவிட்டான்." ( 2 இராஜாக்கள் 18 : 6, 7 )

கர்த்தர்மேல் அசைக்கமுடியாத நம்பிக்கையும் அன்பும் நமக்கு இருக்குமானால் அவர் நமக்காக போராடுவார் என்பதை நாம் இன்றைய தியானத்தில் தியானிக்க இருக்கின்றோம். 

இன்றைய தியான வசனம் யூதாவின் ராஜாவாகிய எசேக்கியாவைப்பற்றி கூறுகின்றது. இந்த எசேக்கியா, பிளவை நோயால் பாதிக்கப்பட்டு மரணத்துக்கு ஏதுவாக இருக்கும்போது கர்த்தரை நோக்கிக் கண்ணீரோடு விண்ணப்பம் செய்து தனது வாழ்நாளில் 15 ஆண்டுகள் நீடித்துப் பெற்றுக்கொண்டவர் என்பது நமக்குத் தெரியும். அதற்குக் காரணம் அவர் கர்த்தர்மேல் கொண்டிருந்த நம்பிக்கை. ஆம், "அவன் இஸ்ரவேலின் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தரின்மேல் வைத்த நம்பிக்கையிலே, அவனுக்குப் பின்னும் அவனுக்கு முன்னும் இருந்த யூதாவின் ராஜாக்களிலெல்லாம் அவனைப்போல் ஒருவனும் இருந்ததில்லை." ( 2 இராஜாக்கள் 18 : 5 ) என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

அவன் அசீரியா ராஜாவாகிய செனகரீபை சேவிக்காமல், அவன் அதிகாரத்தைத் தள்ளிவிட்டதால் அவன் தனது தளபதி ரப்சாகேவை எசேக்கியாவிடம் அனுப்பினான். ஆனால் எசேக்கியா பணிந்துவிடவில்லை. இறுதியாக எசேக்கியாவிற்கு எச்சரிக்கை மடல் அனுப்பினான். அப்போது எசேக்கியா பயப்படாமல், அவனை எதிர்த்து போரிட முயலாமல் நேரே கர்த்தரது பாதத்தின் அந்த கடிதத்தைவைத்து விண்ணப்பம் செய்தார். இக்கட்டான அந்த வேளையிலும் எசேக்கியா பயப்படாமல், கர்த்தர் தனக்கு உதவி செய்வார் என்று நம்பினார். 

ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, தேவன் எசேக்கியாவின் விண்ணப்பத்துக்கு அன்று உடனேயே பதிலளித்து தனது ஒரு தேவதூதனை அனுப்பினார்.  "அன்று இராத்திரியில் சம்பவித்தது என்னவென்றால்: கர்த்தருடைய தூதன் புறப்பட்டு, அசீரியரின் பாளயத்தில் லட்சத்தெண்பத்தையாயிரம்பேரைச் சங்கரித்தான்; அதிகாலமே எழுந்திருக்கும்போது, இதோ, அவர்கள் எல்லாரும் செத்த பிரேதங்களாய்க் கிடந்தார்கள்." ( 2 இராஜாக்கள் 19 : 35 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம். 

மட்டுமல்ல, எசேக்கியாவை எதிர்த்து வந்த அசீரியாவின் அரசன் செனகரீபையும் அவனது சொந்த புதல்வர்களாலேயே தேவன் அழித்தார். "அவன் தன் தேவனாகிய நிஸ்ரோகின் கோவிலிலே பணிந்துகொள்ளுகிறபோது, அவன் குமாரனாகிய அத்ரமலேக்கும் சரேத்சேரும் அவனைப் பட்டயத்தினால் வெட்டிப்போட்டு, ஆரராத் தேசத்திற்குத் தப்பி ஓடிப்போனார்கள்; அவன் குமாரனாகிய எசரத்தோன் அவன் பட்டத்திற்கு வந்து அரசாண்டான்." ( 2 இராஜாக்கள் 19 : 37 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம். 

"கர்த்தர் உங்களுக்காக யுத்தம்பண்ணுவார்; நீங்கள் சும்மாயிருப்பீர்கள்" ( யாத்திராகமம் 14 : 14 ) என்று கூறியுள்ளபடி, கர்த்தர்மேல் அசைக்கமுடியாத நம்பிக்கையும் அன்பும் நமக்கு இருக்குமானால் நாம் நமது எதிரிகளை எதிர்த்து; பிரச்சனைகளை எதிர்த்துப் போராடவேண்டிய அவசியமில்லை. கர்த்தரே நமக்காகப்  போராடுவார்.  நாம் சும்மா இருப்போம். 

கர்த்தர்மேல் இத்தகைய அன்பும் விசுவாசமும் நமக்கு ஏற்படுமாறு ஜெபிப்போம். முற்றிலும் அவரையே நம்புவோம். "கர்த்தர் அவனோடிருந்தார்; அவன் போகிற இடம் எங்கும் அவனுக்கு அனுகூலமாயிற்று" என்று இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில் நாம் வாசிக்கின்றபடி இன்றும் நமக்குச்  செய்யக்  கர்த்தர் வல்லமையுள்ளவராக இருக்கின்றார்.

"For he [Hezekiah] clung to the Lord; he did not depart from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the Lord had commanded Moses. And the Lord was with him; wherever he went he prospered. And he rebelled against the king of Assyria and did not serve him." (2 Kings 18:6-7)

In today's meditation, we are going to reflect on how the Lord will fight for us if we have unshakeable faith and love toward Him.

Today's meditation verse speaks about Hezekiah, the king of Judah. We know that when Hezekiah was afflicted with a fatal boil and was at the point of death, he prayed to the Lord with tears and received an extension of 15 years to his lifespan. The reason for this was the trust he had in the Lord. Indeed, it is written: "He trusted in the Lord, the God of Israel; so that after him there was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among those who were before him." (2 Kings 18:5).

Because he refused to serve Sennacherib, the king of Assyria, and rejected his authority, the king sent his commander, Rabshakeh, to Hezekiah. But Hezekiah did not bow down. Finally, the king sent a warning letter to Hezekiah. Even then, Hezekiah did not fear; instead of trying to fight back against him, he went straight to the feet of the Lord, spread the letter out, and prayed. Even in that tight, critical hour, Hezekiah did not panic, believing that the Lord would help him.

Yes, dearly beloved, God answered Hezekiah's prayer immediately that day and sent an angel. We read: "Then it happened that night that the angel of the Lord went out and struck 185,000 in the camp of the Assyrians; and when men rose early in the morning, behold, all of them were dead bodies." (2 Kings 19:35).

Not only that, God caused Sennacherib, the king of Assyria who had come against Hezekiah, to be destroyed by his very own sons. We read: "It came about as he was worshiping in the house of Nisroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer killed him with the sword; and they escaped into the land of Ararat. And Esarhaddon his son became king in his place." (2 Kings 19:37).

Just as it is said, "The Lord will fight for you while you keep silent" (Exodus 14:14), if we possess unshakeable faith and love toward the Lord, we do not need to fight against our enemies or struggle against our problems. The Lord Himself will fight for us. We shall keep silent.

Let us pray that we develop such love and faith toward the Lord. Let us trust Him completely. Just as we read in today's meditation verse—"And the Lord was with him; wherever he went he prospered"—the Lord is powerful enough to do the same for us today.
