"ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1977

"இம்மைக்காகமாத்திரம் நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின்மேல் நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தால், எல்லா மனுஷரைப்பார்க்கிலும் பரிதபிக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களாக இருப்போம்." ( 1 கொரிந்தியர் 15 : 19 )

பொதுவாக கடவுளை விசுவாசித்து வாழும் மக்களை ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்று எல்லோரும் கூறுகின்றனர். உலகினிலுள்ள எல்லா மதங்களிலும்  அந்தந்த மத விசுவாசிகள் உண்டு. ஆனால் எல்லோரும் ஆன்மீகவாதிகளா என்பதுதான் கேள்வி. 

ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்றால் உண்மையில் அவர்கள் தங்களது ஆன்மாவைக் குறித்த அக்கறையுள்ளவர்களாகவும் அந்த ஆன்மா வாழ்வடைந்திருக்க ஏற்றச் செயல்பாடுகளைச்  செய்பவர்களாகவும் இருக்கவேண்டும். ஆனால் நாம் இன்று உலகினில் பார்க்கும் தங்களை ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்று கூறிக்கொள்ளும் பலரும்  இப்படித் தங்கள் ஆன்மாவைக்குறித்துச் சிந்திக்கின்றார்களா என்பது கேள்விக்குறிதான்.  

எந்த மதத்தினரின் ஆலயங்களாய் இருந்தாலும் பெரும்பாலான ஆலயங்களில் நாம் மக்களது வேண்டுதல்களையும் விண்ணப்பங்களையும், அவர்களது பொருத்தனைகளையும் கவனித்துப்பார்த்தால் 100 சதவிகிதம் அவை அவர்களது உலகத் தேவைகளைப்பற்றியதாகவே இருப்பதை நாம் பார்க்கலாம்.  தங்களது நோய்கள் நீங்கவேண்டும், பிரச்சனைகளுக்குத் தீர்வு கிடைக்கவேண்டும், பிள்ளைகளுக்குத் திருமணம் நடக்கவேண்டும், குழந்தைப்பேறு கிடைக்கவேண்டும், படித்த தங்களது பிள்ளைகளுக்கு ஏற்ற வேலை கிடைக்கவேண்டும் என்பனபோன்ற  வேண்டுதல்களாகவே இவர்களது வேண்டுதல்கள் இருப்பதை நாம் பார்க்கின்றோம். 

கிறிஸ்தவ ஆலயங்களிலும் ஜெபிக்கும் பல குருக்களும் இந்தக் கருத்துகளுக்காகவே ஜெபிக்கின்றனர். அங்கு வரும் விசுவாசிகளும் இப்படியே இருக்கின்றனர். கிறிஸ்தவ கன்வென்சன் கூட்டங்களில் இதுபோன்ற போதனைகளையும் சாட்சிகளையும்தான் நாம் பெரும்பாலும் பார்க்க, கேட்க முடிகின்றது.  

இப்படி வேண்டுதல் செய்பவர்கள் பரிதபிக்கத்தக்கவர்கள் என்று இன்றைய தியான வசனம் கூறுகின்றது. காரணம், இவர்கள் வாழ்வில் தேவனை அறியாமலேயே மரணமடைகின்றனர்; தேவன் ஆயத்தம்பண்ணியுள்ள நித்திய ஜீவனை இழக்கின்றனர்.  ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, எனவேதான் இன்றைய தியான வசனம் நம்மை எச்சரிக்கின்றது.  இம்மைக்காக மட்டும் நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின்மேல் நம்பிக்கையுள்ளவர்களாயிருந்தால், பரிதபிக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்கள். மட்டுமல்ல, நாம் நம்மை ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்று கூறிக்கொள்வது பொய்.      

ஒருவேளை இப்படி விண்ணப்பம் செய்து நமது தேவைகளை நாம் பெற்றுக்கொண்டதாலும் அது தேவன் தனது கிருபையால் தருவதே தவிர அப்படிக் கிடைப்பதால் நமது ஆத்துமாவுக்கு அதனால் எந்தப் பலனுமில்லை. கடவுள் நம்பிக்கை இல்லாத மக்களும் உலகினில் எல்லா செல்வங்களையும் பெற்று நலமாக வாழ்கின்றனர்.  என்னோடு பணியாற்றிய கடவுள் நம்பிக்கையில்லாத நண்பர் இப்போதும் கடவுள் எதிர்ப்புக் கருத்துக்களை எழுதியும் பேசியும்  வருகின்றார். அவரது மொத்தக் குடும்பத்தாரும் அதே உறுதியில்தான் இருக்கின்றனர். அவரது பிள்ளைகளும் நல்ல உலகவேலையில்தான் இருக்கின்றனர். 

அன்பானவர்களே, நாம் ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் என்றால் முதலில் நாம் நமது ஆத்துமாவைக்குறித்து எண்ணமுள்ளவர்களாக இருக்கவேண்டும்; அந்த ஆத்துமாவில் தேவனது பிரசன்னத்தை உணரவேண்டும்; தேவன்மேலுள்ள ஆசையே நம்மில் மேலானதாக இருக்கவேண்டும்; தேவனோடு நெருங்கிய அன்புறவு நமக்கு இருக்கவேண்டும். தேவனது வழிநடத்துதலையும்,  இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கைக்குப் பின்னரும் நமது ஆத்துமா வாழ்கின்றது,  அது நித்திய பரலோக இன்பமாக அல்லது நித்திய நரகஅக்கினியாக இருக்கலாம் எனும் உணர்வும் இருக்கவேண்டும். 

இவை எதுவும் இல்லாமல் வெறுமனே ஆலயங்களுக்குச் சென்று நமது உலகத் தேவைகளுக்காக விண்ணப்பம் செய்துகொண்டிருப்போமென்றால் நாம் ஆன்மீகவாதிகள் அல்ல; உண்மையான கிறிஸதவர்களும் அல்ல. ஆம், இதனையே நமது ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்து, "முதலாவது தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தையும் அவருடைய நீதியையும் தேடுங்கள், அப்பொழுது இவைகளெல்லாம் உங்களுக்குக்கூடக் கொடுக்கப்படும்." ( மத்தேயு 6 : 33 ) என்று கூறினார். 

இம்மைக்காக மட்டுமே  நாம் கிறிஸ்துவின்மேல் நம்பிக்கைக்கொண்டு  எல்லா மனுஷரைப்பார்க்கிலும் பரிதபிக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களாக மாறிப்போகாமல் இருப்போம்.

"AATHAVAN" Meditation - 1977

“If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are of all men most to be pitied.” — 1 Corinthians 15:19

Generally, people who live believing in God are referred to by everyone as spiritual people. Every religion in the world has its own believers. However, the real question is whether everyone is truly spiritual.

If people are genuinely spiritual, they ought to be concerned about their soul and actively engage in things that bring life to it. But looking at many in the world today who claim to be spiritual, it is a big question mark whether they actually give any thought to their soul.

Whether we observe the places of worship of any religion, if we look closely at the prayers, requests, and vows of the people, we can see that almost 100% of them revolve around their worldly, material needs. We see that their prayers are constantly focused on things like healing from sickness, finding solutions to problems, getting their children married, bearing children, or finding suitable jobs for their educated children.

Even in Christian churches, many ministers pray for these exact intentions. The believers who come there are no different. In Christian convention meetings, these are the types of teachings and testimonies we predominantly see and hear.

Today's meditation verse declares that those who pray like this are to be pitied. The reason is that they pass away without ever truly knowing God in their lives; they lose out on the eternal life that God has prepared for them. Yes, dearly beloved, this is why today's meditation verse warns us. If we have hoped in Christ in this life only, we are to be pitied. Furthermore, claiming to be spiritual under those conditions is simply a lie.

Even if we receive what we ask for through such prayers, it is only because God grants it out of His grace; obtaining it brings no benefit to our soul. Even people who have no faith in God possess all kinds of wealth and live well in this world. A friend who used to work with me has no belief in God, and even now, he continues to write and speak against the concept of God. His entire family stands firm in that same conviction. His children are also well-settled in good, worldly jobs.

Dearly beloved, if we are truly spiritual, we must first have a deep concern for our soul. We must experience the presence of God within that soul; our desire for God must be the supreme desire in us, and we must share a close, loving relationship with Him. We must possess a sense of God's guidance and a constant awareness that our soul lives on even after this worldly life—whether that means eternal heavenly joy or the eternal fire of hell.

Without any of this, if we merely go to churches and keep praying only for our worldly needs, we are not spiritual people; nor are we true Christians. Yes, this is exactly what our Lord Jesus Christ spoke about:

“But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” — Matthew 6:33

Let us not place our hope in Christ for this life only, lest we become people who are, of all men, most to be pitied.
