We are God's precious people

"Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord;  their God, and the people whom He has chosen for his own inheritance." (Psalm 33:12)

Blessed are we according to today's verse. Because we worship God as our God. In the same way he has chosen us for his own inheritance.

The people of Israel are God's chosen people. Although there are many different peoples in the world, God specifically chose the people of Israel as the ones best suited to Him. It is indeed a great privilege for the Jews. When the apostle Paul says about this, "What then is the glory of the Jew? What is the use of circumcision? It is abundant in every way; it is a special glory that the words of God were entrusted to them." (Romans 3:2)

It was a noble thing that God's words were entrusted to the Jews. They hand over expensive goods to those they trust. God likewise entrusted his precious words to the Jews. Blessed indeed is the Jew, whom God has chosen for his own inheritance.

Beloved, in today's world the scriptures refer to us as Jews who have faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 2:28,29). We are spiritual Jews. So we are the blessed ones.

The apostle Peter says, "Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that you should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:9)

But having been chosen in this way, we must continue to live in harmony with God. Otherwise we cannot continue in this privileged position. Jesus said, "To whom more is given, more will be expected" and we must not forget that. Even though the Jews received God's words, God punished them severely when they sinned against God. He submitted them to other kings as slaves. The same will apply to us spiritual Jews today, if we sinned.

We must not forget that God, who has adorned us with His precious salvation, will punish us severely if we fail to keep it. So we should be more careful than others. We are bound to guard the salvation we have received.

We should continue our spiritual life carefully without forgetting the fact that God is our Father but He is also a consuming fire.

Precious gold should be pure gold. As the purity of gold decreases, the value of gold also decrease. Likewise, we are precious in God's eyes. We must protect ourselves from diminishing of our value. Blessed are we, the Lord's chosen people; Holy ones.
