"For
I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I
will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:"
(Isaiah 44: 3)
No matter what the object is, the one who knows its value and is interested in getting it, gets happiness and peace when that object is obtained. Only a wanderer in the desert understands the supreme value of water and the pleasant value shade. There is a proverb that says, "The beauty of the shade is seen in the sun."
Similarly, one must have the
desire and thirst to know God. There are many different religions in the world.
Aren't we curious to know which of these is correct? We cannot know God by
performing certain rituals and believing in what our forefathers have told us
without any personal experience. We need to know God personally in life. Not
like the blind who saw the elephant; Instead, we should know God in life as
people whose eyes are opened.
If we thirst to know God
like this, “I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and
floods upon the dry ground” says the Lord. As the verse says, the
Spirit is poured out on us and we can know God in life. Not only that, but when
you know God like that, "I will pour my spirit on your offspring and my
blessing on your offspring." says the Lord. Yes, our knowing God will lead
our descendants to know Him and be blessed.
God says in the previous
verse of today's verse to the unbelieving people who live in fear without any
hope, "Thus
saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help
thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have
chosen." (Isaiah 44: 2)
I am the one who made you,
and I am the one who created you in the mother's womb. So don't be afraid. The
situation as it is today will not continue for you. It is enough if you seek Me
with only the curiosity to know Me, says the Lord.
Beloved, I was born in a
Christian family but lived without knowing Christ personally. I was involved in
devotional activities at a young age and was a member of devotional
organizations. But after college education my life changed. Rituals performed
without any experience of God gave me hatred and the feeling that there is no
God, so I read extreme leftist books, received trainings and distanced myself
from God.
It was only when problems
came in my life, that the teaching of a friend made me seek God. The verse
"I will pour water on the thirsty and rivers on the dry ground" has
come true in my life. My life was a difficult life like the wilderness. God comforted
me with the verses, do not forget the Lord your God "Who
fed thee in the wilderness with manna, which thy fathers knew not...” (Deuteronomy
8: 16) Yes, even though my parents were Christians, God gave me the
grace to know many spiritual things that they did not know in their life.
I say with that experience,
dear ones, leave the rituals and traditions and seek to know God in life. Surely,
He will fill our thirsty and dry hearts with water.
