🦋 Meditation verse - தீத்து 3 : 5 / Titus 3:5

 தியானம் - 2003

"ஆதவன்"ஆகஸ்ட் 03 திங்கள்  2026   

 

"நாம் செய்த நீதியின் கிரியைகளினிமித்தம் அவர் நம்மை இரட்சியாமல், தமது இரக்கத்தின்படியே, மறுஜென்மமுழுக்கினாலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய புதிதாக்குதலினாலும் நம்மை இரட்சித்தார்." ( தீத்து 3 : 5 ) 

இந்த உலகத்தில் நாம் திறமை, அறிவு , பொருள், செல்வாக்கு, அதிகாரம் பெற்றவர்களாக இருந்தால் மற்றவர்கள் நம்மை மதிப்பார்கள். இதுபோல வெளிப்பார்வைக்கு நீதியான பல காரியங்களைச் செய்பவர்களும்  மக்கள்முன் மதிப்புப் பெறுகின்றனர். இவை எதுவுமற்ற ஒருவரை எவரும் மதிப்பதில்லை. 

இதுபோல ஒருவன் பெரிய குற்றவாளி, அநியாயங்கள் பல செய்தவன், ஏமாற்றுக்காரன், நீதி நேர்மையற்றவன் என்று வெளிப்டையாகத் தெரியுமானால் அப்படிப்பட்டவர்களை நம்பி யாரும் வேலைக்கு அமர்த்துவதில்லை. பல அரசாங்க வேலைகளுக்குக்கூட பணியில் அமர்த்துமுன் சமூகத்தில் அங்கீகாரம் பெற்றவர்களிடமிருந்து  நற்சான்று (Conduct Certificate) பெற்று சமர்பிக்கச் சொல்கின்றனர். 

ஆனால், கிறிஸ்து நமது நீதிச் செயல்களையும் பாவங்களையும் பெரிதாக எண்ணவில்லை. நாம் பாவிகள் என்று அறிந்தே நம்மைத் அவர் தெரிந்தெடுத்துள்ளார். ஆம், தேவன் தகுதியைப்பார்த்து ஒருவரைத் தேர்வு செய்வதில்லை. மாறாக, தகுதியில்லாதவர்களைத் தேர்வுசெய்து தகுதிப்படுத்துகின்றார். இப்படித்தான் நாம் பாவிகள் என்று தெரிந்தும் நம்மை அவர் தெரிந்தெடுத்துள்ளார். "நீதிமானுக்காக ஒருவன் மரிக்கிறது அரிது; நல்லவனுக்காக ஒருவேளை ஒருவன் மரிக்கத் துணிவான். நாம் பாவிகளாயிருக்கையில் கிறிஸ்து நமக்காக மரித்ததினாலே, தேவன் நம்மேல் வைத்த தமது அன்பை விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்." ( ரோமர் 5 : 7, 8 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம். 

இதனையே இன்றைய தியானவசனமும், நாம் செய்த நீதியின் கிரியைகளினிமித்தம் அவர் நம்மை இரட்சியாமல், தமது இரக்கத்தின்படியே, மறுஜென்மமுழுக்கினாலும், பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய புதிதாக்குதலினாலும் நம்மை இரட்சித்தார் என்று கூறுகின்றது. நாம் செய்த நீதிச் செயல்களல்ல, மாறாக, தேவனது கிருபையினால் நாம் இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளோம். "கிருபையினாலே விசுவாசத்தைக் கொண்டு இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்; இது உங்களால் உண்டானதல்ல, இது தேவனுடைய ஈவு" ( எபேசியர் 2 : 8 )

நாம் பாவிகள், அநீதிகள் செய்து வாழ்ந்தவர்கள். ஆனால் நாம் தேவனிடம் சென்று சேரவேண்டும் என்பதற்காக அவர் பாடுபட்டு மரித்து உயிர்த்தார். நமது பாவங்களை நிவர்த்திசெய்யும் கிருபாதார பலியானார். "ஏனெனில், கிறிஸ்துவும் நம்மை தேவனிடத்தில் சேர்க்கும்படி அநீதியுள்ளவர்களுக்குப் பதிலாக நீதியுள்ளவராய்ப் பாவங்களினிமித்தம் ஒருதரம் பாடுபட்டார்; அவர் மாம்சத்திலே கொலையுண்டு, ஆவியிலே உயிர்ப்பிக்கப்பட்டார்." ( 1 பேதுரு 3 : 18 )

ஒருமுறை நமது ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்து, "மருத்துவன் நோயற்றவனுக்கல்ல, நோயுற்றவனுகேத் தேவை" என்று கூறவில்லையா? நாம் பாவ நோயற்றவர்கள் என்று எண்ணிக்கொண்டு வாழ்வோமானால் நமது நோய் குணமாகாது. நாம் பாவ நோயினால் ஆட்கொள்ளப்பட்டவர்கள் என்று உணர்ந்து நம்மை பரம வைத்தியனாகிய அவரிடம் ஒப்புக்கொடுப்போமானால் நமது நோய் குணமாகும். காரணம், நாம் பாவிகள் என்பதால்தான் நம்மை மீட்பதற்காக  கிறிஸ்து நமக்காக மரித்தார். இப்படித்  தேவன் நம்மேல் வைத்த தமது அன்பையும்  விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

நமது பாவ நோயினை உணர்ந்துகொள்வோம். பயப்படாமல் மருத்துவரிடம் செல்வதுபோல தேவ சமூகத்தில் செல்வோம். அவர் பரிசுத்தவான்களைத் தேடி வரவில்லை. நம்மைப்போன்ற பாவிகளைத்தான் தேடிவந்து நம்மைப் பரிசுத்தப்படுத்த விரும்புகின்றார். ஒருமுறை ஒரு புனிதர் கூறிய வார்த்தையினை நான் வாசிக்க நேர்ந்தது. அவர் கூறுகின்றார், "புனிதர்கள் எல்லோரும் உண்மையில் மனம்திரும்பிய பழைய பாவிகளே" என்று. 

ஆம், நாம் இரட்சிக்கப்படுவதற்கு நமது பாவங்கள் அவருக்குத் தடையாக இருப்பதில்லை; நாம் செய்த நீதிச் செயல்கள்  மட்டுமே நம்மை இரட்சிக்கமாட்டாது. மாறாக, கிறிஸ்துவின்  இரக்கத்தின்படியே நாம்  மீட்கப்படுகின்றோம். எனவே, நமது நீதிசெயல்களை எண்ணி பெருமைகொள்ளாமல் நமது பாவத்தை எண்ணி பயப்படாமல் மனம்வருந்தி அவரிடம் நெருங்கி வருவோம். அப்போது பரிசுத்த ஆவியினுடைய புதிதாக்குதலினால் நம்மை இரட்சித்து புதிய மனிதனாக்குவார்.

"AATHAVAN"

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" — Titus 3:5

In this world, if we possess talent, wisdom, wealth, influence, or power, others respect us. Similarly, those who perform many righteous acts outwardly also gain honour before people. However, no one respects a person who has none of these things.

Likewise, if it becomes publicly known that someone is a major criminal, a wrongdoer, a fraudster, or an unrighteous person, no one trusts them enough to give them a job. Even for many government positions, applicants are required to obtain and submit a Conduct Certificate from recognized members of society before being appointed to duty.

However, Christ does not place weight on our righteous acts or our sins. Knowing that we are sinners, He chose us. Yes, God does not look at qualification to select someone; rather, He selects the unqualified and makes them qualified. Thus, even knowing we are sinners, He chose us. We read:

"For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." — Romans 5:7, 8

Today's meditation verse speaks of this exact truth: Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. It is not the righteous works we performed, but by the grace of God that we are saved.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:" — Ephesians 2:8

We are sinners who lived doing unrighteous things. But in order to bring us to God, He suffered, died, and rose again. He became the propitiation that covers our sins.

"For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:" — 1 Peter 3:18

Did not our Lord Jesus Christ once say that they that are whole need not a physician, but they that are sick? If we live assuming we are free from the disease of sin, our sickness will not be cured. But if we realize that we are overcome by the disease of sin and surrender ourselves to Him, the Heavenly Physician, our sickness will be healed. The very reason Christ died to redeem us is because we are sinners. In this way, God commends His love toward us.

Let us recognize our disease of sin. Without fear, just as we would go to a doctor, let us draw near to God's presence. He did not come seeking the holy; He came seeking sinners like us to make us holy. I once read a quote by a saint who said: "Every saint is actually an old sinner who repented."

Yes, our sins are not a barrier to His saving us, nor can our righteous deeds save us on their own. Instead, we are redeemed according to Christ's mercy. Therefore, let us not boast in our righteous acts, nor shrink back in fear over our sins. Instead, let us come to Him with a repentant heart. Then, by the renewing of the Holy Ghost, He will save us and make us new creations.
