💥"ஆதவன்" 🌳தியானம் - எண் 1934

"விசுவாசத்தினாலே எரிகோ பட்டணத்தின் மதில்கள் ஏழுநாள் சுற்றிவரப்பட்டு விழுந்தன." ( எபிரெயர் 11 : 30 )

எபிரெயர் நிருபத்தின் பதினொன்றாம் அதிகாரம் விசுவாசத்தை விளக்கும் அற்புதமான ஒரு பகுதியாகும். இங்கு பல விசுவாச வீரர்களைக்குறித்து நாம் வாசிக்கின்றோம். இவை ஒவ்வொன்றும் நாம் சிந்தித்துத் தியானிக்கவேண்டியவை. எத்தகைய உறுதியான விசுவாச வாழ்க்கையினை இந்த விசுவாசிகள் வாழ்ந்துள்ளார்கள் என்பது நம்மையும் உணர்வூட்டுவனவாக உள்ளன.  கிறிஸ்தவர்களாகிய நாமும் இத்தகைய விசுவாசவாழ்வு வாழவே அழைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளோம். எனவேதான், விசுவாசமில்லாமல் தேவனுக்குப் பிரியமாக இருப்பது கூடாத காரியம் என்று வேதம் அறிவுறுத்துகின்றது. 

"விசுவாசமானது நம்பப்படுகிறவைகளின் உறுதியும், காணப்படாதவைகளின் நிச்சயமுமாயிருக்கிறது." ( எபிரெயர் 11 : 1 ) என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ள வசனத்துக்குச்  சரியான உதாரணமாக இஸ்ரவேலரின் எரிகோ பட்டணத்தின் மதில்கள் தகர்ப்பு உள்ளது. பல போர்களை நடத்திய இஸ்ரவேலருக்கு இந்த அமைதிப்பயணம் வித்தியாசமான விசுவாசப்பயணம். நினைத்துப்பாருங்கள், மிகப்பெரிய மதில்ச் சுவரை இடிப்பதற்கு அதனைத் தொடாமல், அதனை எதுவுமே செய்யாமல் வெறுமனே  சுற்றிவந்தால்போதும் என்று கூறுவதை எப்படி ஒருவரால் நம்பமுடியும்? ஆனால் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் நம்பினார்கள். அவர்கள் நம்பியபடி வெற்றியும் பெற்றனர். 

இத்தனைக்கும் எரிகோவின் மதில்கள் நாம் காணும் வெறும் கற்சுவர்கள் போன்றதல்ல. தொல்லியல்துறையினர்  எரிகோவில் மேற்கொண்ட அகழ்வாய்வுகளின் அடிப்படையில்,  அந்தச் சுவரின் பிரம்மாண்டமான அளவுகள் நம்மை இப்போதும் அதிசயிக்கச் செய்கின்றன.  அந்த மதில்ச் சுவரின் அகலம் சுமார் 1.5 முதல் 2 மீட்டர் (4.9 முதல் 6.6 அடி). உயரம் 3.7 முதல் 5.2 மீட்டர் (12 முதல் 17 அடி). இத்தனைப் பெரிய மதில்ச் சுவரைத் தகர்ப்பதற்குத்தான் யோசுவா இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களிடம் ஏழு நாட்கள் அதனைச் சுற்றி வரச்சொல்கின்றார். 

"ஏழு ஆசாரியர் பெட்டிக்கு முன்பாக ஏழு கொம்பு எக்காளங்களைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டு போகவேண்டும்; ஏழாம்நாளில் பட்டணத்தை ஏழுதரம் சுற்றிவரக்கடவர்கள்; ஆசாரியர் எக்காளங்களை ஊதவேண்டும். அவர்கள் அந்தக் கொம்புகளினால் நெடுந்தொனி இடும்போதும், நீங்கள் எக்காள சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கும்போதும், ஜனங்கள் எல்லாரும் மகா ஆரவாரத்தோடே ஆர்ப்பரிக்கக்கடவர்கள்; அப்பொழுது பட்டணத்தின் அலங்கம் இடிந்துவிழும்; உடனே ஜனங்கள் அவரவர் தங்களுக்கு நேராக ஏறக்கடவர்கள் என்றார்." ( யோசுவா 6 : 4, 5 )

அன்பானவர்களே, இது நம்ப முடியாத காரியம்தான். ஆனால் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்கள் அதனை விசுவாசித்து ஏற்றுக்கொண்டு அதன்படி ஏழு நாட்கள் சுற்றிவந்தனர். வெற்றியும் பெற்றனர். இதனைத்தான் இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில், "விசுவாசத்தினாலே எரிகோ பட்டணத்தின் மதில்கள் ஏழுநாள் சுற்றிவரப்பட்டு விழுந்தன" என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம்.

இன்று நமது வாழ்க்கைக்கும் இந்தச் சம்பவம் மிக பயனுள்ள ஒன்றாக இருக்கின்றது. நமது வாழ்க்கையில் எரிகோ மதில்போல பல எதிர்மறையான காரியங்கள் தடையாகத் தெரியலாம்; கடக்கவே முடியாதவையாகத் தெரியலாம். ஆனால் ஆண்டவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துக் கூறுகின்றார், "நீ விசுவாசிக்கக்கூடுமானால் ஆகும், விசுவாசிக்கிறவனுக்கு எல்லாம் கூடும்." ( மாற்கு 9 : 23 ) விசுவாசத்தோடு தேவனை நம்பி வாழ்ந்தால் போதும்.

எரிகோ தகர்க்கப்பட்ட சம்பவத்தில் முதல் ஆறு நாட்கள் மக்கள் அமைதியாகச் சுற்றிவந்தார்கள். ஏழாம்நாளிலும் முதலில் ஆறுமுறை அமைதியாகவும் பின்னர் ஆர்ப்பரிப்புடனும் துதித்தார்கள். பிரமாண்டமான அந்த மதில்ச்சுவர் தகர்க்கப்பட்டது. ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, நமக்கும் நமக்குமுன் தடையாக இருக்கும் பிரச்சனைகள் எனும் மதில் சுவரானது தகர்க்கப்பட தேவன் குறிப்பிட்டாக காலத்தையும் நேரத்தையும் வைத்துள்ளார். அதுவரை நாம் விசுவாசத்துடன் அமைதியாக மதிலைச் சுற்றிவந்த இஸ்ரவேலரைப்போல அமைதியில் ஜெபிப்போம். மதிலைத் தேவன் நமக்காகத் தகர்க்கும்போது நாம் நம்மையறியாமல் தேவனை ஆர்ப்பரித்து மகிமைப்படுத்துவோம்.

"By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days." — Hebrews 11:30

The eleventh chapter of the Epistle to the Hebrews is a wonderful section that explains faith. Here we read about many heroes of faith. Each of these accounts is something we should contemplate and meditate upon. The kind of steadfast life of faith these believers lived serves as an awakening for us as well. As Christians, we too are called to live such a life of faith. That is why the Scripture admonishes us that without faith it is impossible to please God.

The collapsing of the walls of the city of Jericho by the Israelites stands as a perfect example of the verse that states:

"Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." — Hebrews 11:1

For the Israelites, who had fought many conventional battles, this peaceful march was a different kind of journey of faith. Think about it—how can anyone believe when told that to demolish a massive wall, it is enough to simply march around it for days without touching it or doing anything to it? Yet, the people of Israel believed. And just as they believed, they also achieved victory.

Furthermore, the walls of Jericho were not like the ordinary stone walls we see today. Based on excavations carried out by archaeologists in Jericho, the colossal dimensions of that wall still amaze us today. The width of that retaining wall was about 1.5 to 2 meters (4.9 to 6.6 feet), and its height was 3.7 to 5.2 meters (12 to 17 feet). It was to tear down such a massive wall that Joshua commanded the people of Israel to march around it for seven days.

"Seven priests shall carry seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark; then on the seventh day you shall march around the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. It shall be that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when you hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city will fall down flat, and the people will go up every man straight ahead." — Joshua 6:4-5

Beloved, this is indeed an unbelievable thing. However, the people of Israel accepted it in faith, marched around it for seven days accordingly, and achieved victory. This is exactly what we read in today's meditation verse: "By faith the walls of Jericho fell down after they had been encircled for seven days."

Today, this incident is highly relevant and beneficial for our lives as well. In our lives, many negative things may stand as obstacles like the wall of Jericho; they may seem utterly impossible to cross. But the Lord Jesus Christ says:

"‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes." — Mark 9:23

It is enough to live trusting God with faith.

In the account of Jericho's destruction, the people marched silently for the first six days. Even on the seventh day, they marched silently for the first six times, and then they praised with a loud shout. That monumental wall was demolished. Yes, beloved, God has set a specific time and season for the wall of problems standing as an obstacle before us to be torn down. Until then, let us pray in quietness, just like the Israelites who contextually circled the wall silently in faith. When God tears down the wall for us, we will naturally shout with joy and glorify Him.
