"ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1969

"உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாயிருக்கும்படி இவைகளை உங்களுக்கு எழுதுகிறோம்." ( 1 யோவான்  1 : 4 )

இந்த உலகத்தில் பல்வேறுவித இன்பங்கள் உள்ளன. மனிதர்கள் தங்களிடமுள்ள பணத்தைச் செலவழித்து அந்தப் பூலோக இன்பங்களை அடைந்துகொள்ள ஆசைப்படுகின்றனர். இதற்காக எவ்வளவு அதிகமானப் பணச்செலவையும் செய்ய மனிதர்கள் தயாராக இருக்கின்றனர். ஆனால் குறுகியகால அந்த இன்பங்கள் இறுதியில் மனிதர்களது உடல் ஆரோக்கியத்தைக் கெடுத்து அவர்களைத் துன்பத்துக்குள்ளாக்குகின்றன. எனவேதான் இத்தகைய பூலோக இன்பங்களை "சிற்றின்பங்கள்" என்று கூறுகின்றோம். மது, போதைப்பொருட்களை பயன்படுத்துவது, பாலியல் சம்பந்தமான செயல்பாடுகள் இவை சிற்றின்பத்துக்கு உதாரணங்கள்.

இத்தகையச் சிறியகால  சிற்றின்பங்களுக்கு மாற்றாக பேரின்பங்கள் உண்டு. அதனை பணமின்றி பெறமுடியுமென்றாலும் பலரும் அவற்றுக்கு ஆசைப்படுவதில்லை. 

இதுவரை உலகத்தில் நாம் கண்டிராத ஒரு பொருளைக் கண்டுபிடித்துவிட்டோமானால் நமக்கு அது மிகவும் மகிழ்ச்சியளிப்பதாக இருக்கும். அதனை நாம் உடனேயே எல்லோரிடமும் அறிவிக்கவேண்டும் என்று ஆசைப்படுவோம். இதுதான் மனித இயல்பு. அப்போஸ்தலரான யோவான் அப்படி ஒன்றினைக் கண்டுபிடித்துவிட்ட நிறைவான மகிழ்ச்சியில், இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தைக் கூருகின்றார்.  அதுதான் பேரின்பத்தை அடையும் வழி. எனவேதான் உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாயிருக்கும்படி இவைகளை உங்களுக்கு எழுதுகிறோம் என்கின்றார்.

இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தின் முந்தின வசனத்தில் தானும் தன்னோடிருக்கும் மற்ற அப்போஸ்தலர்களும் அதனை எப்படிக் கண்டுபிடித்தார்கள் என்பதனை அவர் கூறுகின்றார். ஆம், "நீங்களும் எங்களோடே ஐக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாகும்படி, நாங்கள் கண்டும் கேட்டும் இருக்கிறதை உங்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கிறோம்; எங்களுடைய ஐக்கியம் பிதாவோடும் அவருடைய குமாரனாகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவோடும் இருக்கிறது." ( 1 யோவான்  1 : 3 )

அதாவது, பிதாவோடும் அவரது குமாரனாகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவோடும் நெருங்கிய உறவு கொண்டுள்ளதால் அந்த மகிழ்ச்சியைக் கண்டுகொண்டோம் என்கின்றார்.  அதுபோல, நீங்களும் எங்களோடே ஐக்கியமுள்ளவர்களாகும்படி, நாங்கள் கண்டும் கேட்டும் இருக்கிறதை உங்களுக்கும் அறிவிக்கிறோம் என்கின்றார் அவர். இதுதான் மெய்யான மேலான சுவிசேஷ அறிவிப்பு. எனவே அப்போஸ்தலரான யோவான் இவற்றை சுவிசேஷமாக எழுதினார். ஆம், "இயேசு தேவனுடைய குமாரனாகிய கிறிஸ்து என்று நீங்கள் விசுவாசிக்கும்படியாகவும், விசுவாசித்து அவருடைய நாமத்தினாலே நித்தியஜீவனை அடையும்படியாகவும், இவைகள் எழுதப்பட்டிருக்கின்றன." ( யோவான் 20 : 31 ) என்கின்றார் அவர். 

ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, நித்திய ஜீவனின் காரணனான இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவைக் கண்டுகொள்வதே அந்தப் பேரின்ப  மகிழ்ச்சி. அதனைப்  பிறருக்கு அறிவிப்பதே நற்செய்தி அறிவிப்பு. பிதாவையும் குமாரனாகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவையும் அறிந்துகொள்வதால் மட்டுமே அந்த மகிழ்ச்சி நமக்குக் கிடைக்கும். இதனால்தான், "ஒன்றான மெய்த்தேவனாகிய உம்மையும் நீர் அனுப்பினவராகிய இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவையும் அறிவதே நித்தியஜீவன்." ( யோவான் 17 : 3 ) என்று இயேசு கிறிஸ்துக்  கூறினார். 

அதனையே அவருடைய அப்போஸ்தலரான யோவான், எங்களுடைய ஐக்கியம் பிதாவோடும் அவருடைய குமாரனாகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவோடும் இருக்கிறது என்று கூறுகின்றார். மட்டுமல்ல, உங்கள் சந்தோஷம் நிறைவாயிருக்கும்படி இவைகளை உங்களுக்கு எழுதுகிறோம் என்று கூறுகின்றார். நிறைவான சந்தோசம் நமக்கு வேண்டுமா இல்லை குறுகியகால சிற்றின்ப சந்தோசம் நமக்குப் போதுமா என்று முடிவெடுக்கவேண்டியது நாம்தான்.  

எங்களுடைய ஐக்கியம் பிதாவோடும் அவருடைய குமாரனாகிய இயேசுகிறிஸ்துவோடும் இருக்கிறது; எங்களது சந்தோசம் அதில்தான் இருக்கின்றது என்று முடிவெடுப்போமானால் நமக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டு. இல்லையானால் நாம் உலகத்தில் எவ்வளவு இன்பத்தை அனுபவித்தாலும் அவையெல்லாம் பயனற்றவைகளாகவே இருக்கும்.

"AATHAVAN" Meditation — 1969

"These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete." — 1 John 1:4 (NASB)

There are various kinds of pleasures in this world. People desire to attain these earthly pleasures by spending their money. In fact, they are ready to incur any amount of high expense for this purpose. However, these short-lived pleasures ultimately ruin human health and subject people to suffering. This is why we refer to such earthly pleasures as "transitory pleasures" (Sittinbam). Examples of these temporary pleasures include the use of alcohol, drugs, and sexual activities.

In contrast to these short-lived, fleeting pleasures, there are supreme, everlasting pleasures (Paerinbam). Although they can be obtained without money, many people do not desire them.

If we discover something that we have never seen before in this world, it brings us immense joy. We immediately desire to announce it to everyone. This is basic human nature. The Apostle John, experiencing the complete joy of discovering such a reality, speaks today's meditation verse. That reality is the path to supreme joy. That is why he says, "These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete."

In the verse preceding today’s meditation text, he explains how he and the other apostles discovered it. Indeed, he writes:

"What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed, our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ." — 1 John 1:3 (NASB)

In other words, he is saying that they found this joy because they share an intimate relationship with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. Likewise, he proclaims, "What we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us." This is the true and supreme proclamation of the Gospel. Therefore, the Apostle John wrote these things down as the Good News. As he states:

"But these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name." — John 20:31 (NASB)

Yes, dearly beloved, finding Jesus Christ—who is the author of eternal life—is that supreme, everlasting joy. Proclaiming this to others is the declaration of the Gospel. This joy is available to us solely by knowing the Father and the Son, Jesus Christ. This is exactly why Jesus Christ said:

"This is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent." — John 17:3 (NASB)

The Apostle John echoes this by saying, "Our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ." Not only that, but he adds, "These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete." It is up to us to decide whether we want complete, overflowing joy, or if temporary, fleeting pleasures are enough for us.

If we decide that our fellowship is with the Father and His Son Jesus Christ, and that our joy rests entirely in Him, we have eternal life. Otherwise, no matter how much pleasure we enjoy in this world, it will all ultimately be in vain.
