🦋 Meditation verse - உபாகமம் 4 : 20 / Deuteronomy 4:20

 "ஆதவன்" தியானம் - 1959

ஜூன் 19,  வெள்ளி 2026   

"இந்நாளில் நீங்கள் இருக்கிறதுபோல, தமக்குச் சுதந்தரமான ஜனமாயிருக்கும்படி, கர்த்தர் உங்களைச் சேர்த்துக்கொண்டு, உங்களை எகிப்து என்னும் இருப்புக்காளவாயிலிருந்து புறப்படப்பண்ணினார்." ( உபாகமம் 4 : 20 )

முன்பு நாம் பாவத்துக்கு அடிமைகளாக எகிப்தில் இருந்தோம். இன்று நாம் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவின் இரத்தத்தினால் மீட்கப்பட்ட சுதந்திர மக்களாக இருக்கின்றோம். காரணம், இப்போது கிறிஸ்துவின் இரக்கத்தினால் நாம் பழைய பாவ வாழ்க்கையிலிருந்து விடுதலையாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளோம். 

நமது பாவத்துக்கு அடிமையான பழைய வாழ்க்கை எகிப்து எனும் இரும்புக்காளவாய் என்று இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. அதாவது வலிமையான இரும்பையே உருக்கக்கூடிய உலைக்களம் நமது பழைய எகிப்து வாழ்க்கை.  அதாவது அந்தப்பாவம் நமது ஆத்துமாவையே அளிக்கக்கூடியதாக இருந்தது. அந்த நிலையிலிருந்து நம்மை அவர் வெளியேறி புறப்படப்பண்ணியுள்ளார். 

இதனை நாம் எபேசியருக்கு எழுதப்பட்ட நிருபத்தில்,  "அவர்களுக்குள்ளே நாமெல்லாரும் முற்காலத்திலே நமது மாம்ச இச்சையின்படியே நடந்து, நமது மாம்சமும் மனசும் விரும்பினவைகளைச் செய்து, சுபாவத்தினாலே மற்றவர்களைப்போலக் கோபாக்கினையின் பிள்ளைகளாயிருந்தோம். தேவனோ இரக்கத்தில் ஐசுவரியமுள்ளவராய் நம்மில் அன்புகூர்ந்த தம்முடைய மிகுந்த அன்பினாலே, அக்கிரமங்களில் மரித்தவர்களாயிருந்த நம்மைக் கிறிஸ்துவுடனேகூட உயிர்ப்பித்தார்; கிருபையினாலே இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்"  ( எபேசியர் 2 : 3 - 5 ) என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம்.

இப்படிக் கிறிஸ்து நம்மை எகிப்து என்னும் இருப்புக்காளவாயான எகிப்து எனும் பாவத்திலிருந்து விடுவித்ததால், நாம் இந்நாளில்  இருக்கிறதுபோல, அவருக்குச் சுதந்தரமான மக்களாக இருக்கின்றோம். எகிப்தில் பார்வோனுக்கு அடிமைகளாக இருந்த இஸ்ரவேலரைத்  தேவன் தனது கிருபையினால் மீட்டதுபோல பாவத்துக்கு அடிமைகளாக இருந்த நம்மையும் அவர்  மீட்டுள்ளார். ஆம், "கிருபையினாலே விசுவாசத்தைக் கொண்டு இரட்சிக்கப்பட்டீர்கள்; இது உங்களால் உண்டானதல்ல, இது தேவனுடைய ஈவு" ( எபேசியர் 2 : 8 )

இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தைத் தொடர்ந்து மோசே, இப்படித்  தேவன் உங்களை எகிப்து எனும் இரும்பு உலைக்களத்திலிருந்து மீட்டுக்கொண்டதால் அவரைத்தவிர வேறு தெய்வங்களை வணங்காதீர்கள் என்று அறிவுறுத்துகின்றார். ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, நாமும் பாவத்திலிருந்து மீட்கப்பட்டதால் இனியும் பாவ வாழ்க்கைக்குள் நுழைத்திடாமல் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருப்போம்,  

நாம் அவரது சொந்த மக்களாக இருக்கும்படி நம்மைத் தெரிந்துகொண்டு பாவத்திலிருந்து நம்மை விடுவித்து நடத்தும் தேவன் நம்மை ராஜரீக ஆசாரியர்களாகவும் பரிசுத்த மக்கள் இனமாகவும் மாற்றியுள்ளார். ஆம், "நீங்களோ, உங்களை அந்தகாரத்தினின்று தம்முடைய ஆச்சரியமான ஒளியினிடத்திற்கு வரவழைத்தவருடைய புண்ணியங்களை அறிவிக்கும்படிக்குத் தெரிந்துகொள்ளப்பட்ட சந்ததியாயும், ராஜரீகமான ஆசாரியக்கூட்டமாயும், பரிசுத்த ஜாதியாயும், அவருக்குச் சொந்தமான ஜனமாயும் இருக்கிறீர்கள்." ( 1 பேதுரு 2 : 9 )

எனவே தொடர்ந்து நாம் அவருக்கு ஏற்புடைய வாழ்க்கை வாழவேண்டியது அவசியம். இப்படி நாம் தேவனுக்கு ஏற்புடையவர்களாக வாழ்வோமானால், "உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் இரக்கமுள்ள தேவனாயிருக்கிறபடியால், அவர் உன்னைக் கைவிடவுமாட்டார், உன்னை அழிக்கவுமாட்டார், உன் பிதாக்களுக்குத் தாம் ஆணையிட்டுக் கொடுத்த உடன்படிக்கையை மறக்கவுமாட்டார்." ( உபாகமம் 4 : 31 )  எனத் தொடர்ந்து கூறுகின்றார் மோசே. 

பாவ எகிப்தின் அடிமைத்தனத்திலிருந்து நம்மை விடுவித்த கர்த்தருக்கு நன்றியுள்ளவர்களாக தொடர்ந்து அவருக்கு ஏற்புடைய வாழ்க்கை வாழ நம்மை அவருக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுப்போம்.

"But the Lord has taken you and brought you out of the iron furnace, from Egypt, to be a people for His own possession, as today." — Deuteronomy 4:20 (NASB)

Previously, we were in Egypt as slaves to sin. Today, we are a redeemed and free people through the blood of Jesus Christ. This is because, by the mercy of Christ, we have now been set free from our old life of sin.

In today's meditation verse, our old life of bondage to sin is compared to Egypt, the "iron furnace." In other words, our old life in Egypt was a furnace capable of melting even the strongest iron; that sin was destructive enough to destroy our very souls. He has brought us out and caused us to depart from that condition.

We read about this in the Epistle to the Ephesians:

"Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest. But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)" — Ephesians 2:3-5 (NASB)

Because Christ has delivered us from sin—which is the iron furnace of Egypt—we are now a people for His own possession, just as we are this day. Just as God, by His grace, redeemed the Israelites who were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, He has also redeemed us who were slaves to sin. Yes,

"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God;" — Ephesians 2:8 (NASB)

Following today's meditation verse, Moses admonishes that since God has redeemed you from the iron furnace of Egypt, you must not worship any other gods besides Him. Yes, beloved, since we too have been redeemed from sin, let us be careful not to enter into a life of sin ever again.

The God who chose us to be His own people and who guides us by delivering us from sin has transformed us into a royal priesthood and a holy nation. Yes,

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light;" — 1 Peter 2:9 (NASB)

Therefore, it is essential that we continue to live a life acceptable to Him. Moses goes on to say that if we live in a way that pleases God:

"For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them." — Deuteronomy 4:31 (NASB)

Let us commit ourselves to Him, living a life that is continually acceptable to the Lord, remaining grateful to Him who delivered us from the bondage of sinful Egypt as His own possession.
