"And
whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God and the Father by him." (Colossians 3: 17)
Even many Christians today do not have a clear understanding of God the Father. Many consider the Father God is for Old Testament and the New Testament to Jesus. Besides this, a "Jesus only" crowd has arisen. The reason for such erroneous teachings is that the scriptures are not read with understanding. The apostle John made this clear in his letters.
Anyone who denies Jesus
Christ is a liar. He calls the Antichrist the one who denies the Father and the
Son Jesus Christ. "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus
is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son." (1
John 2: 22) Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us to pray, "Our Father
in heaven." God the Father sent Christ into the world.
Therefore, "Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that
abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the
Son." (2 John 1: 9)
That is, if we remain in the
teaching of Christ, we will have the Father and the Son. The verse says that we
should give all the glory to God the Father through Jesus Christ. "….
in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and
dominion for ever and ever. Amen." (1 Peter 4: 11)
Jesus Christ said that if we
want to attain eternal life, we must know God the Father and Jesus Christ whom
He sent. "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true
God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17: 3)
It is the Lord Jesus Christ
who has forgiven our sins and reconciled us to God. That is why the apostle
Paul said, "And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement." (Romans 5: 11)
That is why you are being "Ye
also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to
offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ." (1
Peter 2: 5) says Peter.
We can see that the apostle
Paul begin all his letters with, "Grace and peace from God the Father and
the Lord Jesus Christ." Therefore, any prayer of ours should be an
ascension to God the Father through our Lord Jesus Christ. That is what is
acceptable to God and what Christ and the apostles instructed us to do. If we
do not glorify God the Father, thinking that we are giving priority to Christ,
we will be antichrists.
