தேவனை அறிதல் / KNOWING GOD

 'ஆதவன்' வேதாகமத் தியானம் - எண்:- 1,030,               நவம்பர் 23, 2023 வியாழக்கிழமை

"அவர்கள் தேவனை அறிந்திருக்கிறோமென்று அறிக்கைபண்ணுகிறார்கள், கிரியைகளினாலோ அவரை மறுதலிக்கிறார்கள்; அவர்கள் அருவருக்கப்படத்தக்கவர்களும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், எந்த நற்கிரியையுஞ்செய்ய ஆகாதவர்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்." ( தீத்து 1 : 16 )

கிரேத்து தீவைச்சார்ந்த மக்களைக்குறித்து கூறும்போது அப்போஸ்தலராகிய பவுல் இன்றைய வசனத்தைக் கூறுகின்றார். இந்த மக்கள் எப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் என்றால், தேவனை நாங்கள் அறிந்திருக்கின்றோம் என்று கூறிக்கொள்கின்றார்கள். ஆனால் அவர்களது  செயல்பாடுகள் அதற்கு முரணாக இருக்கின்றன. அவர்கள் எப்போதும் பொய்யையே பேசுபவர்கள், துஷ்டர்கள், சாப்பாட்டுப் பிரியர்கள்,  சோம்பேறிகள். இதனையே பவுல் அப்போஸ்தலர், "கிரேத்தாதீவார் ஓயாப்பொய்யர், துஷ்டமிருகங்கள், பெருவயிற்றுச் சோம்பேறிகள் என்று அவர்களிலொருவனாகிய அவர்கள் தீர்க்கதரிசியானவனே சொல்லியிருக்கிறான்." ( தீத்து 1 : 12 ) என்று கூறுகின்றார். 

இந்த வசனங்களின்மூலம் நாம்   புரிந்துகொள்ளவேண்டியது என்னவென்றால், தேவனை அறிந்திருக்கின்றோம் என்று கூறும் அனைவரும் உண்மையில் தேவனை அறிந்தவர்கள் அல்ல. உண்மையில் அவர்கள் தேவனை அறிந்துள்ளார்களா என்பது அவர்களது செயல்பாடுகளால்தான் அறியமுடியும். அதாவது கனியுள்ள வாழ்க்கையே ஒருவர் தேவனை அறிந்திருக்கின்றாரா இல்லையா என்பதை உணரச்செய்யும். 

நமது வாழ்க்கையில் நாம் எப்படி இருக்கின்றோம்? தேவனை  நாம் அறிந்திருக்கின்றோமென்றால், நமது வாழ்க்கையில் அது வெளிப்படவேண்டும். 

நாம்  ஏற்கெனவே பல தியானங்களில் பார்த்ததுபோல, தேவனை அறிதல் என்பதும் தேவனைப்பற்றி அறிதல் என்பதும் வெவ்வேறானவை.  தேவனைப்பற்றி அறிந்தவர்கள் வெறுமனே அவரது குணங்களைப்பற்றி மட்டும் கற்று அறிந்தவர்கள். அவர்ளிடம் மேலான ஆவிக்குரிய பண்புகள் இருக்காது. பவுல் அப்போஸ்தலர் இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தில் குறிப்பிடும் கிரேத்துத்   தீவைச் சார்ந்தவர்கள் தேவனைப்பற்றி மட்டும் அறிந்தவர்கள். ஆனால் அவர்கள் தாங்கள் தேவனை அறிந்தவர்கள் என்று கூறிக்கொள்கின்றனர்.  

அன்பானவர்களே, நாம் நமது வாழ்க்கையில் மாற்றமில்லாமல் வாழ்ந்து ஒரு சில பக்திக்காரியங்களை மட்டும் கடைபிடித்துக் கொண்டு   தேவனை அறிந்தவர்கள் என்று கூறிக்கொள்வோமானால்  நாம் இந்த கிரேத்தாத் தீவு மக்களைப்போலவே இருப்போம். அவர்கள் எப்படிப்பட்டவர்கள் என்றால்,  "அருவருக்கப்படத் தக்கவர்களும், கீழ்ப்படியாதவர்களும், எந்த நற்கிரியையுஞ்செய்ய ஆகாதவர்களுமாயிருக்கிறார்கள்." என்று கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. 

கிறிஸ்து நமக்குள் வரும்போது மட்டுமே நாம் நற்செயல்கள் செய்ய முடியும். அவரோடு இணைந்த வாழ்க்கை மட்டுமே நம்மை முற்றிலும் மாற்ற முடியும். "என்னில் நிலைத்திருங்கள், நானும் உங்களில் நிலைத்திருப்பேன்; கொடியானது திராட்சைச்செடியில் நிலைத்திராவிட்டால் அது தானாய்க் கனிகொடுக்கமாட்டாததுபோல, நீங்களும் என்னில் நிலைத்திராவிட்டால், கனிகொடுக்கமாட்டீர்கள்." ( யோவான் 15 : 4 ) என்று இயேசு கிறிஸ்து கூறவில்லையா?

கிரேத்தாத் தீவு மக்களைப்போல அல்லாமல் கிறிஸ்துவை வாழ்வில் அறிந்து வாழ்பவர்களாக நாம் இருக்கவேண்டியது அவசியம். நம்மை முற்றிலும் அவருக்கு ஒப்புக்கொடுத்து வாழ்வோம். அப்போது மட்டுமே நாம் நற்செயல்கள் செய்யத் தகுதியுள்ளவர்கள் ஆக முடியும். இல்லையானால், கிறிஸ்தவர்கள் என்று நாம் நம்மைக் கூறிக்கொண்டாலும் கிறிஸ்துவை அறியாதவர்களும், கிறிஸ்து இல்லாதவர்களாகவுமே நாம் இருப்போம்.

"They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate." (Titus 1: 16)

Apostle Paul says today's verse when talking about the people of Crete. What kind of people are these people who claim that they know God? But their activities contradict it. They are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This is what the Apostle Paul said, "One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, the Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies." (Titus 1: 12)

What we need to understand from these verses is that not everyone who claims to know God really knows God. Whether they really know God can only be known by their actions. Meaning, a fruitful life is what makes one realize whether one knows God or not.

How are we doing in our lives? If we know God, it should be manifested in our lives.

As we have already seen in many meditations, knowing God and knowing about God are different. Those who know about God are those who only learn about His attributes. They will have no higher spiritual qualities. The people of the island of Crete that Paul the Apostle mentions in today's meditation verse are those who only know about God. But they claim they know God.

Beloved, if we live without change in our lives and follow only a few pious practices and claim to know God, we will be like the people of this island of Crete. What kind of people they are? “They are abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate” as it is said in today’s meditation verse.

We can do good works only when Christ comes into us. Only life in union with Him can transform us completely. "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.' ( John 15 : 4 ) Did not Jesus Christ say?

It is necessary for us to be people who know and live Christ in life, not like the people of Crete Island. Let us live by surrendering ourselves completely to Him. Only then can we become qualified to do good deeds. Otherwise, even if we call ourselves Christians, we will still be Christless.
