"How excellent is your loving kindness, O God!
Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy
wings." (Psalms 36:7)
Only
holy things can enter the presence of the Most Holy God. We humans are
inherently sinful. Therefore, if we want to join the presence of God, we must
be pure. "And there shall in no wise enter into it anything that defileth,
neither whatsoever worketh abomination, nor maketh a lie; but they which are
written in the Lamb's book of life." (Revelation 21:27), it is said.
That
is, our sins should be cleansed by the blood of His Son, the Lamb, before we
enter the Father's presence. Beloved, our Lord
Jesus Christ bled and died on Calvary for this. By so dying, "Even when we
were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are
saved)" (Ephesians 2:5), says the apostle Paul.
This
is what David said in today's meditation verse: "How wonderful is your
grace! That is why the sons of men come under the shadow of your wings."
says that yes, dear ones, it is by His grace that we have been given the
opportunity to be forgiven of our sins and come under the shadow of His wings.
It is not made by human
effort; rather, this opportunity is given to us only by God's grace. Apostle
Paul says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God." (Ephesians 2: 8) That's
why the psalmist says in today's verse, "How excellent is thy
lovingkindness, O God! Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the
shadow of your wings."
Moreover,
by this grace, we have the opportunity to sit with Christ in the presence of
the Father on high. "And hath raised us up together and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come he might
shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness towards us through
Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:6, 7)
Therefore,
beloved, we must at all times guard against losing the grace of Christ. Do not
give priority to illusory, worldly things. "They that observe lying
vanities forsake their own mercy" (Jonah 2:8), says Jonah. Let's keep
ourselves from losing God's great grace to worldly attraction.
Then,
as the psalmist says, we too can say, "O God, how wonderful is your
grace!" and we can also reach under the shade of his wings.
