"கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள் விருத்தசேதனமும் ஒன்றுமில்லை, விருத்தசேதனமில்லாமையும் ஒன்றுமில்லை; புது சிருஷ்டியே காரியம்." ( கலாத்தியர் 6 : 15 )
ஆரம்பகால கிறிஸ்தவர்களிடையே இருந்த மிக முக்கிய பிரச்சனை விருத்தசேதனம் செய்துகொள்வது சம்பந்தப்பட்ட போதனைகளே. பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு முறைமையின்படி, உண்மையான யூதன் என்பவன் விருத்தசேதனம் செய்தவனாக இருக்கவேண்டும். ஆதி கிறிஸ்தவர்களிடையே இதுகுறித்து மிகப்பெரிய விவாதங்களும் எழுந்ததுண்டு. ஆனால் அப்போஸ்தலராகிய பவுல் இவைபோன்ற எண்ணங்கள் தவறு என்று கூறுகின்றார். வெறுமனே கட்டளைகளைக் கடைபிடிப்பதால் மட்டும் எவரும் கடவுளுக்குமுன் நீதிமான்கள் ஆகிவிடுவதில்லை. கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவை விசுவாசித்து ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளும்போதுதான் நாம் நீதிமான்களாகமுடியும்.
"நியாயப்பிரமாணத்தினாலே ஒருவனும் தேவனிடத்தில் நீதிமானாகிறதில்லையென்பது வெளியரங்கமாயிருக்கிறது. ஏனெனில் விசுவாசத்தினாலே நீதிமான் பிழைப்பான் என்று எழுதியிருக்கிறதே." ( கலாத்தியர் 3 : 11 )
ஒரு மனிதன் கிறிஸ்துவினால் பாவங்கள் மன்னிக்கப்பட்டுப் புதுப்பிறப்பாக மாறுவது முக்கியமேத்தவிர வெளியரங்கமான சில சடங்குகள் தேவையில்லை. காரணம், விருத்தசேதனம் செய்யாதவனும் தேவ நீதியைக் கைக்கொள்ளலாம். ஆம், "மேலும் விருத்தசேதனமில்லாதவன் நியாயப்பிரமாணத்துக்கேற்ற நீதிகளைக் கைக்கொண்டால், அவனுடைய விருத்தசேதனமில்லாமை விருத்தசேதனம் என்றெண்ணப்படுமல்லவா?" ( ரோமர் 2 : 26 )
சில சடங்குமுறைகள் மட்டும் ஒருவரை கடவுளுக்கு ஏற்புடையவராக மாற்றாது. உள்ளத்தில் ஒருவர் மாற்றம் பெறுவதே முக்கியம். "ஆதலால் புறம்பாக யூதனானவன் யூதனல்ல, புறம்பாக மாம்சத்தில் செய்யப்படும் விருத்தசேதனமும் விருத்தசேதனமல்ல. உள்ளத்திலே யூதனானவனே யூதன்; எழுத்தின்படி உண்டாகாமல், ஆவியின்படி இருதயத்தில் உண்டாகும் விருத்தசேதனமே விருத்தசேதனம்; இப்படிப்பட்டவனுக்குரிய புகழ்ச்சி மனுஷராலே அல்ல, தேவனாலே உண்டாயிருக்கிறது." ( ரோமர் 2 : 28, 29 )
ஆதிகால கிறிஸ்தவ சபைகளைப்போல இன்றும் பல கிறிஸ்தவ சபைகளும் ஊழியர்களும் இதுபோல பல்வேறு சடங்குகளைக் கைக்கொள்ள மக்களை வலியுறுத்துகின்றனர். ஒரு மனிதன் புதுப்படைப்பாக மாறுவது குறித்து போதித்து வழிநடத்துவதை விட்டு தாங்களாக சில உபதேசங்களைப் போதித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்.
இதற்கு ஒரு உதாரணம் இன்று சில சபைகள் வலியுறுத்தும் தசமபாக காணிக்கை குறித்த போதனைகள். குறிப்பாக இன்று சில கிறிஸ்தவ சபைகளில் தசமபாக காணிக்கை கொடுப்பது சம்பந்தமான போதனைகள் விருத்தசேதன போதனைப்போல ஆகிவிட்டதை மறுக்கமுடியாது. ஒருவர் தேவ ஆசீர்வாதம் பெறுவதற்கு அவர் தசம்பாக காணிக்கை கொடுக்காமல் இருப்பதே காரணம் என்று சிலர் போதிக்கின்றனர். தேவன் ஒருவர் தசமபாக காணிக்கைக் கொடுக்கின்றாரா இல்லையா என்று தேவன் பார்ப்பதில்லை. உண்மையான மனமாற்றம் பெற்று புதுப்படைப்பாக மாறியுள்ளாரா என்றே பார்க்கின்றார்.
ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள் காணிக்கை கொடுப்பதும் கொடுக்காமல் இருப்பதும் பிரச்சனையில்லை புது சிருஷ்டியே காரியம். தலையை விட்டுவிட்டு வாலைப்பிடிப்பதைப்போல இன்று கிறிஸ்தவ ஊழியர்களில் பலரும் தலையான கிறிஸ்தவ போதனைகளை விட்டுவிட்டு வாலைப் பிடித்துக்கொண்டிருக்கின்றனர்.
நமது பாவங்களை கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவிடம் அறிக்கையிட்டு அவரது இரத்தத்தால் கழுவப்படும் அனுபவத்தைப் பெறுவோம். இதுவே நாம் புதுப்படைப்பாக மாறிட முதல் தேவை; இதுவே மறுபடி பிறக்கும் அனுபவம். இதனையே இயேசு கிறிஸ்து வலியுறுத்தினார். ஆம், "இயேசு அவனுக்குப் (நிக்கொதேமுவுக்கு) பிரதியுத்தரமாக: ஒருவன் மறுபடியும் பிறவாவிட்டால் தேவனுடைய ராஜ்யத்தைக் காணமாட்டான் என்று மெய்யாகவே மெய்யாகவே உனக்குச் சொல்லுகிறேன் என்றார்." ( யோவான் 3 : 3 )

"For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation." — Galatians 6:15
One of the most significant issues among the early Christians was the teaching concerning circumcision. According to Old Testament tradition, a true Jew had to be circumcised. This sparked intense debates among the early believers. However, the Apostle Paul declares such thinking to be wrong. No one becomes righteous before God merely by keeping legalistic commandments. We can only be justified when we believe in and accept Jesus Christ.
"Now that no one is justified by the Law before God is evident; for, 'THE RIGHTEOUS MAN SHALL LIVE BY FAITH.'" — Galatians 3:11
What truly matters is for a person to be forgiven of their sins by Christ and transformed through a new birth—external rituals are not required. A person who is uncircumcised can still keep the righteousness of God.
"So, if the uncircumcised man keeps the requirements of the Law, will not his uncircumcision be regarded as circumcision?" — Romans 2:26
Ritualistic observances alone cannot render anyone acceptable to God; inner transformation is what matters.
"For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh. But he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that which is of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the letter; and his praise is not from men, but from God." — Romans 2:28-29
Much like the early Christian churches, many churches and ministers today urge people to adhere to various rituals. Instead of teaching and guiding people on how to become a new creation, they propagate humanly devised doctrines.
A clear example of this is the teaching regarding tithing enforced by certain churches today. It cannot be denied that in some Christian congregations, teachings on tithing have become akin to the ancient doctrine of circumcision. Some teach that a person’s lack of divine blessing is due to not giving a tithe. However, God does not look at whether someone gives a tithe or not; He looks to see if they have experienced true repentance and become a new creation.
Yes, beloved, in Christ Jesus, whether one gives an offering or does not give an offering is not the issue—a new creation is what matters. Just like grabbing the tail instead of the head, many Christian ministers today have abandoned the core, head teachings of Christianity to chase after the tail.
Let us confess our sins to Jesus Christ and experience being cleansed by His blood. This is the primary requirement for us to be transformed into a new creation—this is the born-again experience. Jesus Christ Himself emphasized this:
"Jesus answered and said to him, 'Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.'" — John 3:3
