நீதிமான் - பனை மரம் / RIGHTEOUS - PALM TREE

 ஆதவன் 🔥 977🌻 அக்டோபர் 01, 2023 ஞாயிற்றுக்கிழமை

"நீதிமான் பனையைப்போல் செழித்து, லீபனோனிலுள்ள கேதுருவைப்போல் வளருவான். கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே நாட்டப்பட்டவர்கள் எங்கள் தேவனுடைய பிராகாரங்களில் செழித்திருப்பார்கள்."  (சங்கீதம் 92: 12, 13) 

தமிழ் நாட்டின் தூத்துக்குடி, திருநெல்வேலி, இராமநாதபுரம் மாவட்டங்களில் நாம் அதிக அளவில் பனைமரங்களைக் காண முடியும். பனை மரங்களைப் பார்த்தால் அவை செழிப்பாகத் தெரியாது. வறண்ட பகுதியில் வளர்வதால் அவை வறண்டுபோனவையாகவே இருக்கும். 

நான் சாத்தான்குளத்தில் பணி செய்தபோது ஒருமுறை பேருந்தில் பயணம் செய்தபோது இந்த வசனம் திடீரென எனது நினைவில் வந்தது. அது ஒரு நவம்பர் மாதம். நல்ல மழை பெய்திருந்ததால் பார்க்குமிடமெல்லாம் ஒரே பசுமை. வாழை மரங்களும், கடலை, பயிறு வகைகளும் பயிரிடப்பட்டு பச்சை பசேலென்றிருந்தது அந்தப் பகுதி.  ஆனால் இதே பகுதி ஏப்ரல், மே மாதங்களில் எப்படி இருக்கும் என்று எண்ணிப் பார்த்தேன். ஆம்,  ஏப்ரல், மே  மாதங்களில் பார்த்தால் பாலைவனம்போல இருக்கும். பனை மரத்தைத்தவிர வேறு எதனையும் நாம் காண முடியாது. 

ஆம், இந்தப் பனைமரத்தைப் போலவே நீதிமான் இருப்பான் என்று இன்றைய வசனம் கூறுகின்றது. கடுமையான வறட்சியையும், தண்ணீர் பஞ்சத்தையும் பனைமரம் எதிர்கொண்டு செழித்து வளரும். அதுபோல நீதிமான் எந்தவிதமான சோதனைகளையும் தங்கி கர்த்தருக்குள் நிலைத்துச் செழித்திருப்பான். மட்டுமல்ல, அந்த வறண்ட காலத்தில்தான் பனைமரம் மற்றவர்ளுக்குப்  பயன்படும் சுவையான பதநீரைத் தந்து உதவுகின்றது. மேலும் பனை மரத்தின் அனைத்துப் பகுதிகளுமே மக்களுக்குப் பயன் தாரக்கூடியவை. கர்த்தருக்குள் நிலைத்திருக்கும் நீதிமானும்  அப்படியே முழுவதும் மக்களுக்குப் பயன்தரக்கூடியவனாக இருப்பான். எனவேதான் வேதம் பனை மரத்தை நீதிமானுக்கு ஒப்பிடுகின்றது. 

மேலும், "அவன் லீபனோனிலுள்ள கேதுருவைப்போல் வளருவான்" என்றும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.  நமது பகுதிகளில்  தேக்கு மரத்தை எப்படி உறுதியானதாக மதிப்புமிக்கதாகக் கருதுகின்றோமோ  அதுபோன்ற உறுதியான விலை உயர்ந்த மரம்தான் கேதுரு மரம்.  சாலமோன் தேவனுக்கென்று ஆலயத்தைக் காட்டியபோது கேதுரு மரங்களால் அதனைக் கட்டினான் என்று வாசிக்கின்றோம். தேக்கு மரம் எப்படி நூற்றாண்டுகளைக் கடந்தாலும் கெட்டுப்போகாமல் உறுதியாக உள்ளதோ அப்படியே கேதுரு மரப் பலகைகளும் இருக்கும். எனவே நீதிமானுக்கு அது உவமையாகக் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது.

ஆனால், துன்மார்க்கரோ புல்லைப்போல இருக்கின்றனர். அதாவது அவர்கள் செழிப்பாக வாழ்வதுபோலத் தெரிந்தாலும் அந்தச் செழிப்புக் குறுகியதே.  மழை காலத்தில் பனை மரத்தைச் சுற்றிலும் இருக்கும் பசுமையான பயிர்கள் எதனையும் நாம் கோடைகாலத்தில் காண முடியாது. அவை இருந்த இடமே தெரியாமல் அவை அகன்றுபோயிருக்கும்.

இதனையே சங்கீத ஆசிரியர்  "இன்னுங் கொஞ்சநேரந்தான், அப்போது துன்மார்க்கன் இரான்; அவன் ஸ்தானத்தை உற்று விசாரித்தாயானால் அவன் இல்லை" (சங்கீதம் 37: 10) என்று கூறுகின்றார். ஆம், மழை மாதங்களில் பனை மரத்தைத் சற்றிலுமிருந்த செழிப்பு இல்லாமல் போனதுபோல அவர்கள் தேவனது பார்வையில் வெறுமையானவர்கள் ஆவார்கள். அதாவது, உலக பார்வையில் அவர்கள் செழிப்பானவர்கள் போலத் தெரிந்தாலும் தேவ பார்வையில் அவர்கள் ஒன்றுமில்லாதவர்களே. 

இன்றைய வசனத்தின் பிற்பகுதி, "கர்த்தருடைய ஆலயத்திலே நாட்டப்பட்டவர்கள் எங்கள் தேவனுடைய பிராகாரங்களில் செழித்திருப்பார்கள்." என்று கூறுகின்றது. அதாவது கர்த்தரோடு உறுதியாக நாட்டப்பட்டவர்கள் தான் வேதம் குறிப்பிடும்  நீதிமான்கள்.  அவர்கள் பனையைப்போலவும் கேதுரு மரத்தைப்போலவும் தேவனுடைய பிராகாரங்களில் செழித்திருப்பார்கள்.  தேவனோடு இணைந்த நீதியுள்ள வாழ்க்கை மூலம் நாமும் பனையைப்போலவும் கேதுருவைப்போலவும் உறுதியாக வாழ்வோம்; பிறருக்கும் பயன்தருவோம்.

         RIGHTEOUS - PALM TREE

"The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God." ( Psalms 92 : 12, 13 )

We can find palm trees in abundance in Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Ramanathapuram districts of Tamil Nadu. If you look at palm trees, they don't look prosperous. As they grow in dry areas, they remain desiccated.

This verse suddenly came to my mind when I was traveling in a bus once when I was working in Sattankulam. It was a November month. It had rained so well that all the sights were green. The area was green with banana trees, peanuts and pulses cultivated. But I wondered what the same area would be like in April and May. Yes, it will look like a desert in April and May. We can see nothing but palm trees.

Yes, today's verse says that the righteous will be like this palm tree. The palm tree thrives in the face of severe drought and water scarcity. Likewise, the righteous will endure any trials and prosper in the Lord. Not only that, it is during the dry season that the palm tree helps others by giving them delicious neera. And all parts of the palm tree are useful to people. A righteous man who abides in the Lord will be useful like this to all people. That is why the scripture compares the palm tree to the righteous man.

And it is said, "He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon." Cedar wood is a solid and expensive wood, just as we consider teak to be solid and valuable in our regions. We read that when Solomon built the temple for God, he built it with cedar woods. Just as teak wood has stood the test of time without decaying over the centuries, so have cedar planks. So, it is told as a parable to the righteous.

But the wicked are like grass. That is, they seem to live prosperously, but that prosperity is short-lived. Though we find greeneries during the rainy season we do not see any of the green crops around the palm tree in the summer. They would have disappeared without knowing where they were.

This is what the psalmist says, "For yet a little while, and the wicked shall not be: yea, thou shalt diligently consider his place, and it shall not be." (Psalms 37: 10) Yea, they shall be empty in the sight of God, as the palm tree in the rainy months has lost all its luxuriance. That is, in the eyes of the world they appear to be prosperous, but in the eyes of God they are nothing.

The second part of today's verse is, “those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God." That is, those who are firmly planted with the Lord are the righteous mentioned in the scriptures. They will flourish in God's courts like the palm tree and the cedar tree. By living a righteous life in union with God we will live as steadfastly as the palm tree and the cedar; Let us benefit others.
