பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் கிறிஸ்து / CHRIST IN OLD TESTAMENT

"வேதவாக்கியங்களை ஆராய்ந்து பாருங்கள்; அவைகளால் உங்களுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டென்று எண்ணுகிறீர்களே, என்னைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறவைகளும் அவைகளே." ( யோவான் 5 : 39 )

இன்று புதிய உபதேசமாக பலர் கூறுவது,  நமக்கு பழைய ஏற்பாடு முக்கியமல்ல; நாம் கிருபையின் காலத்தில் இருக்கின்றோம், எனவே கிறிஸ்துவின் கிருபையின் உபதேசங்களே போதும் என்கின்றனர். இத்தகைய போதகர்கள் கிறிஸ்துவைச்  சரியாக அறியாதவர்களும் கிறிஸ்துவின் சுவிசேஷத்துக்கு எதிரிகளும் என்றே கூறவேண்டும். "இயேசு மாத்திரம்" என்று இவர்கள் முழங்குவார்கள். இது கேட்கச் சரிபோலத் தெரிந்தாலும் பின்னணியில் தாறுமாறான உபதேசங்களே அதிகம் இருக்கும். எனவே நாம் எச்சரிக்கையாக இருக்கவேண்டியது அவசியம். 

காரணம், பழைய ஏற்பாடு இல்லாமல் புதிய ஏற்பாடு இல்லை. பழைய ஏற்பாட்டின் நிறைவேறுதலே புதிய ஏற்பாடு. யூதர்கள் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் தேறியவர்கள். மேசியா எனும் உலக இரட்சகரைப்பற்றி பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு தீர்க்கதரிசிகள் கூறியவற்றை அவர்கள் விசுவாசித்தனர். எனவே மேசியாவை அவர்கள் எதிர்பார்த்திருந்தனர். ஆனால் அவர்களால் இயேசு கிறிஸ்துதான் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு நூல்களில் கூறப்பட்ட மேசியா என்பதை மட்டும் நம்ப முடியவில்லை.  

ஏறக்குறைய அனைத்து பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு நூல்களிலும் கிறிஸ்துவைப்பற்றிய ஏதாவது ஒரு குறிப்பு உண்டு. மொத்தமாக பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில்  47 இடங்களில் கிறிஸ்துவாகிய மேசியாவைக்குறித்து குறிப்புகள் உள்ளன. ஆனால் யூதர்கள் இவற்றை இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவுக்கு கூறப்பட்ட தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களாக உணர்ந்துகொள்ளவில்லை. எனவேதான் இயேசு கிறிஸ்து யூதர்களைப்பார்த்து,  "வேதவாக்கியங்களை ஆராய்ந்து பாருங்கள்; அவைகளால் உங்களுக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டென்று எண்ணுகிறீர்களே, என்னைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சி கொடுக்கிறவைகளும்  அவைகளே." என்று கூறுகின்றார். 

இன்று நாம் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு சரித்திரங்களையும் தீர்க்கதரிசனங்களையும் படித்து உணர்ந்தால் மட்டுமே கிறிஸ்துவைக்குறித்தும் நாம் தெளிவாக உணர முடியும். அவர்மேல் விசுவாசம் ஏற்படும்.  

இயேசு கிறிஸ்துவும் பல இடங்களில் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டு சம்பவங்களைக் கூறுவதை நாம் பார்க்கலாம். உதாரணமாக, மோசே, எலியா, யோனா, லோத்தின் மனைவி, சோதோம்,  கொமாரா, ஏசாயா இவர்களைப்பற்றி இயேசு கிறிஸ்து குறிப்பிடுகின்றார். புதிய ஏற்பாட்டினை மட்டும் நாம் வாசித்துக்கொண்டிருந்தால் கிறிஸ்து உதாரணம் கூறும் இவை எதுவுமே நமக்குப் புரியாது. 

பழைய ஏற்பாடு புதிய ஏற்பாட்டின் நிழலாட்டமே. எனவே நாம் அவற்றை கற்றறியவேண்டியது அவசியம். பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் இஸ்ரவேல் மக்களோடு இருந்து வழிநடத்தியது கிறிஸ்துவே என அப்போஸ்தலராகிய பவுல் குறிப்பிடுகின்றார்.  "எல்லாரும் ஒரே ஞானபானத்தைக் குடித்தார்கள். எப்படியெனில், அவர்களோடேகூடச் சென்ற ஞானக்கன்மலையின் தண்ணீரைக் குடித்தார்கள்; அந்தக் கன்மலை கிறிஸ்துவே." ( 1 கொரிந்தியர் 10 : 4 )

ஆம் அன்பானவர்களே, கிறிஸ்து வெறும் 2000 ஆண்டுகளுக்குமுன் வந்தவரல்ல. அப்படி நாம் நம்பிக்கொண்டிருந்தோமானால் அவரை நாம் புத்தர், காந்தி, போன்ற மனிதர்களில் ஒருவராகக் கருதுகின்றோம் என்றுதான்  பொருள். 

பழைய ஏற்பாடு புதிய ஏற்பாடு எனப் பாகுபடுத்தாமல் வேதவாக்கியங்களை ஆராய்ந்து அறிவோம்.  அவைகளால் நமக்கு நித்தியஜீவன் உண்டு.  கவனமாய் ஆவிக்குரிய கண்களோடு வாசிக்கும்போது நாம் பழைய ஏற்பாட்டில் கிறிஸ்துவைக் காணலாம். கிறிஸ்துவைக்குறித்துச் சாட்சிகொடுக்கிறவைகளும் அவைகளே.

" Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” ( John 5 : 39 )

Many people today say that the Old Testament is not important for us; We are in the age of grace, so the teachings of Christ's grace are enough. Such preachers are ignorant of Christ and enemies of the gospel of Christ. "Only Jesus," they chant. This may sound like a good thing, but there are many contradictory teachings in the background. So, we need to be cautious.

The reason is that there is no New Testament without the Old Testament. The New Testament is the fulfilment of the Old Testament. The Jews are the chosen people in the Old Testament. They believed what the Old Testament prophets had said about the Messiah, the Savior of the world. So, they expected the Messiah. But they simply could not believe that Jesus Christ was the Messiah spoken of in the Old Testament.

Almost throughout the Old Testament contains some reference to Christ. Altogether there are 47 references to Christ the Messiah in the Old Testament. But the Jews did not recognize these as prophecies addressed to Jesus Christ. That is why Jesus Christ looked at the Jews and said, " Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.”

Only if we read and understand the Old Testament stories and prophecies today can we have a clear understanding of Christ and belief Him.

We can see Jesus Christ also tells the Old Testament events in many places. For example, Jesus Christ mentions Moses, Elijah, Jonah, Lot's wife, Sodom, Gomara, Isaiah etc. If we are only reading the New Testament, we will not understand any of these examples of Christ.

The Old Testament is a shadow of the New Testament. So, we need to learn them. The apostle Paul mentions that it was Christ who led the people of Israel in the Old Testament. "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.” ( 1 Corinthians 10 : 4 )

Yes dear ones, Christ did not come just 2000 years ago. If we believe like that, it means that we consider him as one of the people like Buddha, Gandhi, etc.

Let us examine the scriptures without distinguishing between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Through them we have eternal life. When we read carefully with spiritual eyes, we can see Christ in the Old Testament. They are the ones that testify about Christ.
