உமது கிருபை பெரியது / GREAT IS THY MERCY

"நீர் எனக்குப் பாராட்டின உமது கிருபை பெரியது; என் ஆத்துமாவைத் தாழ்ந்த பாதாளத்திற்குத் தப்புவித்தீர்." ( சங்கீதம் 86 : 13 )

தேவ கிருபையினைக்குறித்து நாம் வேதாகமத்தில் பல்வேறு இடங்களில் வாசிக்கின்றோம். ஆனால் மேலான கிருபை என்பது தேவன் நமது பாவங்களை மன்னிப்பதும் பாவங்களுக்கு விலக்கி நம்மைக் காப்பதும்தான். தாவீது இதனைத் தனது அனுபவத்தில் அறிந்திருந்தார்.  எனவேதான் கூறுகின்றார், "என் ஆத்துமாவைத் தாழ்ந்த பாதாளத்திற்குத் தப்புவித்தீர்" என்று.

நமது பலவீனங்களில் நம்மைத் தாங்குவதுதான் தேவ கிருபை. இதனையே அப்போஸ்தலரான பவுல் அடிகளிடம் தேவன் விளக்கினார், "என் கிருபை உனக்குப் போதும்; பலவீனத்தில் என பலம்  பூரணமாய் விளங்கும்" (2 கொரிந்தியர் 12:9) என்று. நாம் அனைவருமே பலவீனமானவர்கள். பல்வேறு சமயங்களில் பாவத்தில் விழுந்துவிடுகின்றோம்.  ஆனால் தேவன் மன்னிப்பதில் கிருபை நிறைந்தவராக இருப்பதால் நம்மை மன்னித்து வாழவைக்கின்றார்.    

எனவேதான் தாவீது இன்றைய தியான சங்கீத அதிகாரத்தில் இன்றைய தியான வசனத்தின்முன் 5வது வசனத்தில் "ஆண்டவரே, நீர் நல்லவரும், மன்னிக்கிறவரும், உம்மை நோக்கிக் கூப்பிடுகிற யாவர்மேலும் கிருபை மிகுந்தவருமாயிருக்கிறீர்." ( சங்கீதம் 86 : 5 ) என்று கூறுகின்றார். 

"நம்முடைய பாவங்களை நிவிர்த்தி செய்கிற கிருபாதாரபலி அவரே; நம்முடைய பாவங்களை மாத்திரம் அல்ல, சர்வலோகத்தின் பாவங்களையும் நிவிர்த்தி செய்கிற பலியாயிருக்கிறார்." ( 1 யோவான்  2 : 2 )

இதனையே தேவன் தங்களுக்கு ஒப்புவித்ததாக பவுல் அப்போஸ்தலர் கூறுகின்றார். "அதென்னவெனில், தேவன் உலகத்தாருடைய பாவங்களை எண்ணாமல், கிறிஸ்துவுக்குள் அவர்களைத் தமக்கு ஒப்புரவாக்கி, ஒப்புரவாக்குதலின் உபதேசத்தை எங்களிடத்தில் ஒப்புவித்தார்" ( 2 கொரிந்தியர் 5 : 19 ) என்கின்றார். உலக மக்களின் பாவங்களை மன்னித்திட தேவனால் முடியும். ஆனால் மக்கள் தங்கள் தவறான பாவ வழிகளை உணரச் செய்யவேண்டும். அதற்காகவே தேவன் தங்களை பயன்படுத்துகின்றார் என்கிறார் பவுல்.  

விபச்சாரம் அதனைத் தொடர்ந்த கொலை போன்ற பாவங்களில் சிக்கியிருந்த தாவீதை உணர்வடையச் செய்ய ஒரு நாத்தான் தீர்க்கதரிசி தேவைப்பட்டார்.  தாவீது அதனை உணர்ந்து கொண்டார். எனவே, தேவன் தனது கிருபையால் பாதாளத்துக்குத் தனது ஆத்துமாவைத் தப்புவித்ததாகக் கூறுகின்றார். எனவேதான், "நீர் எனக்குப் பாராட்டின உமது கிருபை பெரியது; என் ஆத்துமாவைத் தாழ்ந்த பாதாளத்திற்குத் தப்புவித்தீர்." என்று கூறுகின்றார். 

அன்பானவர்களே, நமக்கு எவ்வளவுதான் செல்வம் இருந்தாலும் அது இந்த உலக வாழ்க்கைக்குத்தவிர வேறு எதற்கும் உதவாது. இந்த உலகத்தையே பணத்தால் நாம் கைப்பற்றலாம், ஆனால் நமது ஆத்துமாவை இழந்தால் அதனால் எந்தப்  பயனும் இராது. "மனுஷன் உலகம் முழுவதையும் ஆதாயப்படுத்திக் கொண்டாலும், தன் ஜீவனை நஷ்டப்படுத்தினால் அவனுக்கு லாபம் என்ன? மனுஷன் தன் ஜீவனுக்கு ஈடாக என்னத்தைக் கொடுப்பான்?" ( மத்தேயு 16 : 26 )  

தேவன் நமக்கு உணர்வுள்ள இருதயத்தைத் தரும்படி மன்றாடுவோம். அப்போதுதான் நமது உள்ளான குணங்கள் நமக்கே வெளிப்படும். அப்போதுதான் நாம் நமது பலவீனங்களையும் பாவங்களையும் உணர்ந்து கொள்ளமுடியும். அப்போதுதான் தேவ மன்னிப்பையும் நாம் பெறமுடியும். நமது பாவங்களை உணர்ந்து தேவ மன்னிப்பை வேண்டுவதுடன் அவருக்கு நன்றியும் சொல்வோம். "எனது  ஆத்துமாவைத் தாழ்ந்த பாதாளத்திற்குத் தப்புவித்தீர்" நன்றி ஆண்டவரே எனத் தாவீதைப்போல கூறுவோம்.

"For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell." (Psalms 86: 13)

We read about God's grace in various places in the Bible. But the greater grace is God forgiving our sins and keeping us away from them. David knew this from his experience. That is why he says, “thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell."

God's grace is what sustains us in our weaknesses. This is what God explained to the apostle Paul, “My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12: 9) We are all weak. At various times we fall into sin. But because God is full of grace in forgiveness, He forgives us and allows us to live.

That's why David in today's meditation psalm chapter before today's meditation verse in verse 5 says "For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee." (Psalms 86: 5)

"And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." (1 John 2: 2)

The apostle Paul says that this is what God entrusted to them. "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." (2 Corinthians 5: 19) God can forgive the sins of the people of the world. But people need to be made aware of their wrong sinful ways. That is why God uses them, says Paul.

It took a prophet Nathan to make David aware of the sins of adultery and subsequent murder. David realized that. Therefore, he says that by His grace God saved his soul to destruction. Hence, “great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell" he says.

Beloved, no matter how much wealth we have, it will not help us other than this worldly life. We can gain this world with money, but if we lose our soul, it will be of no use. "For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?" (Matthew 16: 26)

Let us ask God to give us a heart of understanding. Only then will our inner qualities be revealed to us. Only then can we realize our weaknesses and sins. Only then can we get God's forgiveness. Let's realize our sins and ask for God's forgiveness and thank Him. Let us say like David, "Thank you, Lord, for you have saved my soul from the depths of hell."
