மாம்சமும் ஆவியும் / FLESH AND SPIRIT

"மாம்சம் ஆவிக்கு விரோதமாகவும், ஆவி மாம்சத்துக்கு விரோதமாகவும் இச்சிக்கிறது; நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிறவைகளைச் செய்யாதபடிக்கு, இவைகள் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று விரோதமாயிருக்கின்றன." ( கலாத்தியர் 5 : 17 )

போராட்டமிக்க ஆவிக்குரிய வாழ்வைக்குறித்து அப்போஸ்தலரான பவுல் இங்கு குறிப்பிடுகின்றார். நாம் தேவனுக்கு ஏற்ற வாழ்க்கை வாழவேண்டும், பரிசுத்தமாக வாழவேண்டும் என்று விரும்புகின்றோம். ஆனால் இந்த உலகின்  பல்வேறு விதமான இச்சைகள் நம்மை இழுக்கின்றன. அதாவது நாம் தேவனுக்கென்று வாழ விரும்பும் வாழ்க்கையை வாழ விடாதபடி நமது உடலின் விருப்பங்கள் நம்மை மறுபுறம் இழுக்கின்றன. இதனையே, "நீங்கள் செய்யவேண்டுமென்றிருக்கிறவைகளைச் செய்யாதபடிக்கு, இவைகள் ஒன்றுக்கொன்று விரோதமாயிருக்கின்றன." என்று குறிப்பிடுகின்றார் பவுல். 

இது ஏன் என்பதனையும் விளக்குகின்றார் அப்போஸ்தலரான பவுல். அதாவது மனிதன் இயல்பிலேயே நல்லவன் அல்ல. அதனால் நன்மை செய்யவேண்டும் என்று நாம் விரும்பினாலும் நம்மால் நன்மை செய்ய முடிவதில்லை. "...என்னிடத்தில், அதாவது, என் மாம்சத்தில், நன்மை வாசமாயிருக்கிறதில்லையென்று நான் அறிந்திருக்கிறேன்; நன்மை செய்யவேண்டுமென்கிற விருப்பம் என்னிடத்திலிருக்கிறது நன்மை செய்வதோ என்னிடத்திலில்லை." ( ரோமர் 7 : 18 )

இப்படி ஒன்றுக்கொன்று முரண்பாடாக இருப்பதால், "நான் விரும்புகிற நன்மையைச் செய்யாமல், விரும்பாத தீமையையே செய்கிறேன்." ( ரோமர் 7 : 19 ) என்கின்றார். 

அன்பானவர்களே, இந்த முரண்பாட்டினை மேற்கொள்ளவேண்டுமானால் நம்மில் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் செயல்பட வேண்டும். அவருக்கு நம்மை முற்றிலுமாகக் கையளிக்கவேண்டும். நமது இயலாமையை தேவனுக்குத் தெரிவிக்கவேண்டும். "ஆண்டவரே,நான் உமக்கு ஏற்ற பரிசுத்த வாழ்வு வாழ விரும்புகின்றேன்; என்னால் அது முடியவில்லை. எனது பலவீனத்தை நீக்கி நான் உமது சித்தம் செய்ய உமது ஆவியானவரை எனக்குத் தாரும் என உளப்பூர்வமாக வேண்டும்போது தேவன் நமக்கு உதவுவார். 

அப்படி தேவ ஆவியானவர் நம்மில் வரும்போதுதான் நாம் அவருக்கேற்ற தூய வாழ்வு வாழமுடியும். "தேவனுடைய ஆவி உங்களில் வாசமாயிருந்தால், நீங்கள் மாம்சத்துக்குட் பட்டவர்களாயிராமல் ஆவிக்குட்பட்டவர்களாயிருப்பீர்கள். கிறிஸ்துவின் ஆவியில்லாதவன் அவருடையவனல்ல." ( ரோமர் 8 : 9 ) அப்படி தூய ஆவியானவரின் நிலைத்து வாழும்போதுதான் நாம் ஆவிக்குரிய கிறிஸ்தவர்கள். இல்லையானால் நாம் வெறுமையான ஆராதனைக் கிறிஸ்தவர்களாகவே  இருப்போம்.

இப்படி நாம் வாழும்போது கிறிஸ்து நம்மில் இருக்கிறார் என்று பொருள். அப்படி "கிறிஸ்து உங்களிலிருந்தால் சரீரமானது பாவத்தினிமித்தம் மரித்ததாயும், ஆவியானது நீதியினிமித்தம் ஜீவனுள்ளதாயும் இருக்கும்." ( ரோமர் 8 : 10 )

அன்பானவர்களே, வெறும் சடங்குகளால் பரிசுத்த ஆவியானவர் நிம்மிடம் வந்து செயலாற்ற முடியாது. தாகத்தோடு வேண்டும்போதுதான் ஆவியானவரின் அபிஷேகம் நம்மை நிரப்பி நமைத் தூயவராக மாற்ற முடியும். "தாகமுள்ளவன்மேல் தண்ணீரையும், வறண்ட நிலத்தின்மேல் ஆறுகளையும் ஊற்றுவேன்; உன் சந்ததியின்மேல் என் ஆவியையும், உன் சந்தானத்தின்மேல் என் ஆசீர்வாதத்தையும் ஊற்றுவேன்." ( ஏசாயா 44 : 3 ) என்கிறார் கர்த்தராகிய ஆண்டவர்.

"பொல்லாதவர்களாகிய நீங்கள் உங்கள் பிள்ளைகளுக்கு நல்ல ஈவுகளைக் கொடுக்க அறிந்திருக்கும்போது, பரமபிதாவானவர் தம்மிடத்தில் வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறவர்களுக்குப் பரிசுத்த ஆவியைக் கொடுப்பது அதிக நிச்சயம் அல்லவா?."( லுூக்கா 11 : 13 ) இயேசு கிறிஸ்து கூறுவதுபோல, வேண்டுவோம் ; பெற்றுக்கொள்வோம்.

                                    FLESH AND SPIRIT

"For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would." ( Galatians 5 : 17 )

The apostle Paul is referring here to a struggling spiritual life. We want to live a life worthy of God and live a holy life. But the various lusts of this world pull us. That is, the desires of our flesh pull us away from living the life we want to live for God. This is, "these things are contrary to one another, lest you cannot do the things which you want to do" Paul mentions.

The apostle Paul explains the reasons for this. That is, man is not good by nature. So even if we want to do good, we cannot do good. "For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. (Romans 7: 18) Because of this contradiction, “For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.” (Romans 7:19).

Beloved, we must have the Holy Spirit to work in us to overcome this conflict. We must surrender ourselves completely to Him. We should inform God of our inability. "Lord, I want to live a holy life worthy of you, but I am not able to do it. God help me to remove my weakness and give me your Spirit to do your will”.

Only when God's Spirit comes into us can we live a pure life according to Him. "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his." (Romans 8: 9) We are spiritual Christians only when we live in the presence of the Holy Spirit. Otherwise, we will remain empty worship Christians. When we live like this, it means that Christ is in us. "And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness." (Romans 8: 10)

Beloved, mere rituals cannot make the Holy Spirit come and work in you. Only when we thirst can the Spirit's anointing fill us and make us pure. "For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:" (Isaiah 44: 3) says the Lord God.

"If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?" (Luke 11: 13) As Jesus Christ says, let us pray; Let us get the Holy Spirit.
